Italian DJ and producer Amarcord has been making soundtracks for neon lit night drives for the past couple of years now on labels such as Ombra International and Correspondant. Making his debut here for Eskimo - as part of Curses’ Next Wave Acid Punx compilation - Amarcord delivers a sleazy sounding electro number that grinds along with increasingly distresses soun- ding angular synths and Kraftwerk‘esque bleeps pulse over the hypnotic 105bpm rhythm.

J.M.F is a joint venture consisting of Dresdens Jacob Korn and Leipzigs Good Guy Mikesh & Filburt with both of them throwing in their special secret powers: the analog house feeling and the big bass drum from Jacob and the great melodies and a certain fluffiness from Mikesh and Filburt. Together they howled with the coyotes deep down in the notorious uncanny valley and created two sparkling tracks Philip Dolphia check out the bossy flute and At The Ranch. Lauer (from Artwo Mwambe and Tuff City Kids fame, who just released his ace debut album on Running Back) took a big sip of firewater for his remix and scalps At The Ranch into a raw romantic tearjerker, Elektro meets Rimini Style.

Underground Pacific’s latest offering, “The Only Good Wave Is a Next One”, feels deft and elegant. Through its post-punk and new wave underpinnings- tap-hissing kicks, chunky synth-wobbles, and bleached vocals- clear, fluid top notes give the sound a modern feel. The results are refractive yet moody, careful yet powerful, mature, and considered.

This compilation features a choice array of international artists from Italians Amarcord (MEET Compact Club, Ombra Int’l) and Italo-disco frontrunner Marcello Giordani (50% Marvin and Guy, known also as Italo Deviance) to Leipzig-based artist-musicians New Hook (Riotvan, Live at Robert Jonson, Ombra Int’l).
Californian Underground Pacific’s labelmaster Cantor, Robert E. Livingood (of Ombra Int’l), and Mexican Alf Champion (Fucanglong, Optimo Music) contribute tracks from across the Atlantic and complete the release’s lineup.

Next up on Man Power's Me Me Me label is a 12" by "Forriner" aka Lee Forster and Oli Worriner. Man Power made music together with Lee for years (alongside Mick Rolfe) as Last Waltz. Lee also worked as Lizards with James Hadfield (James released solo for Me Me Me 02). Oli Worriner is a talented young northerner who’s already making a great name for his solo output, both under his own name and his Traela "Alias", as well his label. The originals are a bright mix of melodically analogue left leaning house, while the remixes zero-in on a punchier dancefloor vibe, with an epic version Goodnight, as well a more heads down Disco Dub. Here is the Shit Robot, from the DFA fame, remix of Goodnight !

"I’m going to try not to gush too much about the fact that ‘Me Me Me’ has Raj Pannu’s first ever record, but you have to understand that he’s DJ royalty to someone from where I come from.
From his residencies in Newcastle in the Early 90s, touring all over Europe, playing with the likes of Gilles Peterson, Jazzanova and James Lavelle to his move into turntablism in the late 90s playing one on one with DJ Craze, A-Trak and Q-Bert.
All the way up to the last decade and his time spent touring the world for 5 years as part of Coldcut, working with institutions like the BBC and Ninja Tune, and just generally being an absolutely mind bending DJ playing with people from all over the spectrum, such as Richie Hawtin, DJ Kentaro, Jamie Lidell, Kode9 and more.
... and now he’s decided to release his first record... With Us !
As you can imagine for someone with such a varied musical background, FSOP is hard to pin down. I played it to a friend and they said it sounded like Photek covering Pink Floyd, which is the closest approximation I’ve heard of it, I guess. It’s techno, but steppy, and super musical, and dark, but uplifting. Above all, it’s just really special. I couldn’t not give the record a full side to itself, and for the remix we’ve found the perfect pairing with an interpretation from Cosmin TRG (who I met at a festival, and who I instantly hit it off with after finding our shared love of Guiness and Sarcasm).
Cosmin chokes out all of the light with a cut of raw, skittering Paranoid Techno. Providing the ideal balance for both sides of the record. Raj has also provided us with a Dub Mix which we’re releasing as a digital exclusive. The dub narrows the dancefloor focus, without losing the drama of the OG. Reading this, you can probably tell how excited I am about this record."

Something Happening Somewhere returns with a new collection of stories unified under the brand new NOWHERE compilation series. Shards of tales long forgotten are told and retold by a group of fellow travellers, exploring sounds in many shapes and forms. Sailing towards an unknown destination, revealed here are the hymns luring you into the abyss… 

NOWHERE 01 is set to be released as a twelve track tour de force containing a myriad of fresh sounds build from uncharted odysseys along a host of forgotten pearls. Quince, Tracey, Sigward, Patlac, Love Over Entropy & Pete Blaker, Kiani & His Legion and Fader From Borneo all provide freshly crafted propellants. Also taking the opportunity to reimagine music by Kurt Baggaley, Fatima Yamaha, Mayaku / Dilated Pupils, Lover Over Entropy / Versalife and Quince. Here comes the fourth release by Almería-based electronica artist Mynationshit titled ‘The Tycoon’. This is another addition to the independent label ‘Waste Editions’, run by Mynationshit’s frontman Carlos Martín along with his brother Ale. 

This record highlights Martin’s latest musical touches. Its melancholic undertones juxtaposed with humble romanticism will inspire you. Indubitably, this Spanish artist’s distinguishable nature mixes 
elements of Electro, Dark Wave, Synth-Pop and Post-Punk. 

Picture Johnny Cash and Peter Murphy singing catchy tunes to each other while on a cosmic journey to an unknown planet where synths and prose accompany their melodies.
