Very excited, proud and a little nervous to announce my debut EP on Critical Music. After 16 years of running the label i thought it was time i released a body of work of my own. Its quite daunting after all the incredible music the artists have given me to be doing this for the first time. I hope you enjoy it for what it is: raw, honest drum and bass. As avid supporters of the underground bass music scene in the Pacific Northwest, we would be terribly remiss to overlook the powerhouses that are Portland's Sublimate Records and Calgary's Noctilux Collective. These two outlets have not only been throwing amazing parties for years and nurturing their respective local scenes, but have consistently been releasing music from some of the most incredible up and coming producers in the world.

They're set to release a collaborative compilation entitled "Continuum" this week, and the 14 track offering certainly holds up to the impossibly high standard they've set for themselves. Complete with a flavorful sampling of local and international artists, the tracklist touches on everything from breaks to jungle to chunky hip hop beats and back again. Established legends like Greazus and Sinistarr share the release with lesser known but inimitable forces like Kid Kun, Samurai Breaks, Sublimate co-founder Sonis, and Toronto's Captivate, who brought us today's premiere, "Shimmer".

A dancefloor-ready 170 bpm smasher dripping with vibes, "Shimmer" will be just as appropriate at peak rave hours in the club as it will be during a quiet early morning drive. Its versatility is what drew us to the tune; it expresses somber restraint while also being fun and emotional at the same time. We've had our eyes on Captivate for some time now, especially after his big collaboration "Cashme" with Stranjah on Aufect Recordings last year, and we couldn't be more excited to premiere his track "Shimmer" from the Sublimate x Noctilux compilation today. Leaders of the new generation and purveyors of dancefloor chaos Serum, Voltage and Bladerunner return to the frontline of drum & bass with their debut, self-titled album ‘Kings Of The Rollers’. Whilst each has their own high-grade production style, these three royals have managed to create a sum greater than their parts, as they steamroll through all the rules to deliver an absolute bruiser of an LP.

Across seventeen tracks expect up-front rollers, techy 2-step beats and pure knockout D+B bangers, complemented with slick jazzy numbers and a wide variety of vocal-lead tracks. It’s safe to say they've lived up to the hype with their most dynamic and diverse release to date.

Amongst the carnage highlights include ‘You Got Me’. A towering tear-out beast ladened with thrashing amens and a thundering bassline that’s ready to push every speaker to it’s limits. Low frequency growler ‘Shella’ is peppered with steppy jungle nuances, with Mancunian dance music innovator Chimpo featuring on both production and vocals for an all-round roughneck sheller. ‘Round Here’ is a brazen jungle prowler with Bristolian lyricist Redders at the helm for a future classic anthem.

Whilst being predominantly known for their heavyweight productions and outrageous D+B screamers, the new album also showcases a variety of different flavours. Jungle roller ‘On The Run’ features the smooth spoken word of Queen Rose and ‘Tisno’ brings a warm steppy swing, inspired by their time spent at the very first Hospitality On The Beach.

Hospital’s three kings have set the scene on fire with their electrifying DJ sets and headline festival performances. Their new 'Royal Rumble' tour takes them all over the UK in 2019 with shows in London, Bristol, Brighton, Manchester and beyond.

One of the most exciting new Dutch talents, Buunshin, has joined The Bassic Agency roster. 

With a close affinity to local residents and Signal & ABIS, Buunshin announced himself to the world last month with the ‘Presence EP' on their DIVIDID imprint, earning instant support from the likes of Noisia, Mefjus, Phace, Misanthrop and an entry in the Beatport charts at #1 on his debut .

Following up his superb debut, Buunshin has a remix of Phace & Noisia's seminal 'Micro Organism' coming out on the Neosignal X album, which will be released on 29 May.

Wagner Ribeiro De Souza AKA DJ Patife (the ‘scoundrel’) was born and raised in Brazil's music and clubbing capital São Paulo. He started out as a DJ in a local Hip Hop band, having been influenced by Sound System and Hip Hop culture, before falling in love with Jungle and Drum & Bass in the mid-nineties.
A Brazilian Drum & Bass legend, he has played the globe: from WMC (USA), SUNANDBASS (Sardinia), Exit (Serbia), Glastonbury and Womad (UK), Skolbeats (Brazil), Montreux Jazz Festival (Switzerland), to Sonar Festival (Spain).
As a producer, Patife is best known for 'Sambassim', played by Gilles Peterson, Laurent Garnier and Andy C. It also won 'Best Dance Music Video' award at the MTV Video Music Awards in Brazil. But it was his part on the Brasil EP on V recordings, that rubber stamped his arrival.
It’s the ability to cross-over genres; from D & B to the jazz scene, that sets him apart. A resident at many a legendary Drum & Bass club night, he’s never been pigeon-holed by his great love for the genre and continues to make noise from WOMAD to Worldwide Festival.
