This song tells the story of Daniel 4 in the Old Testament. I wanted to give it a slightly epic, slightly chilling feel. It's a crazy story that I hope I've done some justice. :) I've loved getting to write these tunes after Bible stories- let me know if you guys want to hear more!

It's been interesting how much the Lord has shown me about arrogance and pride. It's poison to a human heart because in it, we can't see our need for God to satisfy us. Jesus lovingly leads His people out of pride and into submission to Himself- and that's where we're meant to be.

keep me from believing that same old lie

I was inspired by Romans chapter 7 for this tune. Paul says some startling things about the human heart there. What do we do when we love God and we still sin? Finally, he just says, "Wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death? Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, I myself serve the law of God with my mind, but with my flesh I serve the law of sin."

This song is written with that posture. I still live in a broken world. Because of Adam's sin, I still have to fight the flesh every day. But the good news is that through the cross, I'm free from the guilt and the stain of sin. Jesus didn't only take my sin, but He gives me His righteousness, too. And when it feels like I'm stuck in the same old patterns of sin that have deceived people for so long, I can look to Him for strength and redemption.

So I hope you enjoy this song. Hope it's an encouragement to you today.
