The Crooked Axis String Quartet was formed in early 2010 as a side-project featuring members of Number Nine Experiment, Zamal Bash, and Red Haze. In 2011 the band shorten its name to The Crooked Axis.

Jazz quartet Aeola are joined by a string quartet to release their first album on 3rd of November.
The midday concert will take place at St. Margaret’s church, Whaley Range. Allison Clarke,
pictured here with bassist Anthony Brett Sharpe writes the lyrics which are inspired by nature
and places around the North West. The piece 'Dragonfly' was written after a visit to the secret
pond in the terraced gardens of Rivington Pike whilst 'Landscape' was inspired by the lights of 
Manchester city during the drive down the A 62 from Delph. Even St. Margaret’s church, where 
the band rehearse, became the inspiration for the hymn-like jazz tune 'Everlasting Spring'. 
Together with Andy Moorhouse, composer /pianist and Drummer William Unger, Aeola and the string  quartet from the R.N.C.M. will perform on the Saturday morning for their CD launch. Tea, coffee and homemade cakes will be on sale, but the concerts free, for more information visit the Aeola Facebook page.

Louis Lingg and the Bombs are goddamn punk-rock-garage-pop-anarcho saviours of the 2 and half minute pop song. The bombs they throw are musical, they come from Paris (they could only come from Paris!) and they’ll grab you and demand your instant attention. Their sound is a mix of ultra-political anarchic punk rock and fizzing children’s nursery rhyme riot-pop. Laced with so much energy and a whole sonic attack of chaos and fizzy energy, they throw a crazy live party. They could start a riot in a phone box and regularly blow up little bars with pop Molotovs and bang bang boom boom punk rock energy!
