the year is slowly coming to an end and what a year it was. music gave me the opportunity to travel places, play for communities that i could only dream of just a blink of an eye ago. it let me be who i am and showed me once again what incredible bliss being with the right people in the right place at the right moment can bring.

one of my goals this year was to play more shows and gain experience as a dj. sometimes it felt like i was succeeding, sometimes it felt like things went astray - especially times when i tried to prove something to people that i was something i am not. there was euphoria and empty dancefloors, doubts next to high spirits - but in the end it feels like it was all well worth it.

with all this in mind i sat(!) down and recorded club random (六). the mix felt like a 2h long meditation. it’s colourful and fluid, sometimes dark yet bright, airy and dense all at the same time. hope you enjoy the ride!

Pixie is a member of the record shop "RECORD SHOP rare groove" in Osaka. She has steadily gained recognition in Japan and abroad for her mysterious playstyle, which was established through her unique interpretation of house music, mainly Chicago house and Italo disco.

With a rich international performance history, she has graced stages at Bambi's and Do West Fest in Toronto, Canada, Yu Yu in Mexico City, Zodiac in Jakarta, Peels in Bali, Grey Area and Rabbit Hole in Taipei, Savage in Hanoi, and numerous other overseas gigs.

In Japan, she performed at Rural, the long-established festival, the Rainbow Disco Club’s pre-event celebrating its 15th anniversary in 2024, Larry Heard’s show in Japan, and more.

In addition to her DJ work, she has provided mixes for NTS Radio, The Vinyl Factory, and other media at home and abroad.

Montreal-based DJ, producer and label owner Francis Latrielle, better known as Priori, joins us for the 79th edition of the Phonica Mix Series.

Priori has become a firm favourite of ours here at Phonica over the past couple of years. His releases, which crossover through many electronic genres, from house and techno to IDM and ambient, have been picked up by such labels as Echovolt and Dust E-1’s Dust World in recent years, although much of his musical output, including his phenomenal 2019 album, ‘On A Nimbus’, comes via his own label, NAFF, which he co-runs with fellow Montrealer Ex-Terrestrial.
