Following on from the release of David K’s well-received Sneakers & Playground EP, the unnerving pairing of Verena & Pherox (aka Tim Querengaesser) return with a record that is veiled by in a dark and mysterious shroud.

Verena is a young and fresh female artist, influenced from an early age by the classical work of her father (who worked as a music composer), whilst Pherox is a more familiar presence in today’s deep clubbing landscape, having released on Mupa, Catenaccio, Dumb Unit, Stock5 and his very own label, Slash.

On this EP, the pair explore a broad palette of sounds, taking in Italian Horror film-esque chords, chopped and screwed vocal samples, rolling basslines, soothsaying vocals, drawn out fog horn stabs. This is deep music; flavoured by the nocturnal, tinted by the eighties, and ultimately full of originality.

A precursor to Astral Projection, SFX (abbreviation of sound effects), was formed in Israel in 1989 and originally consisted of Avi Nissim and Lior Perlmutter. They released a hit single in 1991 named Monster Mania, which prompted them to start working on an album. Work was halted when they decided to travel to New York and try their luck there. While Avi soon went back home, Lior stayed in the USA and in 1992 released the single JBIE. In 1993, with Lior still in the US, Avi teamed up with Yaniv Haviv and Guy Sabbag and they released the single Another World. In early 1994, Lior returned to Israel to work on his own material with the rest of the members under their new label Trust in Trance. Their album Trust in Trance 2 reached number two on Israel best selling album chart.[3] After this release, Guy decided to leave the group and the remaining members eventually changed their name to Astral Projection. In 1995 they opened their own professional sound studio.[4]
They have produced nine albums, some of them reaching positions on best selling album charts abroad.[5] The most recent album is 'Ten' which was released in 2004. Astral Projection have not released an album since 2004, though they have released several singles since then.
Astral Projection's most well known tracks include hits such as “Kabalah”, “People Can Fly”, “Mahadeva” and “Dancing Galaxy” to name but a few.
Astral Projection's tracks “Open Society”, “The Prophecy”, "One" and "Strange World" were greeted enthusiastically by Goa and Psychedelic trance fans. The release of their EP Open Society was pushed back first from January 2008 to September 2008, then from September 2008 to simply "2009", and then from 2009 to simply "2010". After the September 2008 delay, Astral Projection's website attributed this to a dispute with B.N.E., the label which they originally had agreed to release the album. The EP was finally released by Trust in Trance Records on September 7, 2010.[6]
On February 10, 2010, the New Astral Store opened on Astral Projection's website, making virtually all of their music available for a download fee in mp3 or wav format.
Their new EP, One, was released June 12, 2012 on TIP Records.

My dear friends

I am happy to share my live recordings of one of the most magical night of my career so far.
I was invited to play in Oaxaca, Mexico together with Acid Pauli during 'Day of the dead' on 31st of oct 2015.
We played in some kind of old spanish church in the middle of the night. Because it was ‘the day of the death’ everybody was dressed like skelletons. They painted me as my dog Rivaldo, that passed away 3 months ago.
You can imagine playing in Mexico in a temple, on the day of the dead, with Acid Pauli, in front of Skelletons, while I was painted like my Rivaldo (and Martin had some kind of Jezus outfit) was pretty magical.

So I am excited to share with you the live recordings of this night.
I want to thank Mariana, ALKEMY and gem&bolt party w/ guest mezcal Amores and Meteoro to set up this night.
And all the people who came to show: you really made that temple come alive again!!
