PREMIERE : Brian Ring Feat K.P Ring - Full Circle

Plastique De Rêve releases yet another digital “archive” compilation via his Bandcamp page on February 9th, featuring 24 remixes produced for other artists and friends over the course of 20 years!

The track premiered here is a remix of a track called “Okay” produced by Swiss techno duo Tanz / Tanz in 2011, originally released on Swiss label Poor Records.

It’s an epic McKenna-esque acid-laced mystical techno trip, deep into the Amazon jungle, devastated by the acids needed to process cocaine, infested with jittering shamen, screeching parrots, shady gold-diggers armed to the teeth and clouds turning into UFOs! Dark, corroding forces at play.

Remake / cover of San Francisco Hi-NRG synthesiser disco classic ’Menergy’ from 1981 composed by Patrick Cowley with all of the sounds (except drums and vocoder) made by using u-he Repro-1 and Repro-5 plug-ins (https://u-he.com/products/repro/)

I thought it would be fun to try to recreate this track with u-he versions of Sequential Circuits Pro-One and Prophet-5 synthesizers (the originals were used by Patrick Cowley a LOT). I set a rule not to use any external effect plug-ins on the synth parts but only the built-in effects that are included in the Repro-1 and Repro-5, so no external reverbs, delays, choruses, equalizers etc used.

Though I did try to get passably close to the original sounds, it is not 1:1 creation, just a fun remake.

This place was strange, out of the ordinary and out of the norm. A mystery world in which wild things roamed and danced beneath the stars. They'd always said that there was life in outer space, we just simply couldn't fathom that it might look as different asthis. Upon the sandy dunes, mythical creatures waved and pranced with chaotic disregard and a luxurious lust for life which we simply didn't have back on earth. Watching from the spaceship he dreamed that one day he might join them for his home felt not so beautiful now. 

Brian Ring is set to release a new EP on Clutching At Straws, a club focussed EP with precision and purpose. It's bound for the dancefloor and into a mystery world we go.
