The rocket ships were loaded, the heat was on and the race was all set to begin. They were sat in the cockpit of the sfire space station, it floated observationally above the race course. Waiting to film every detail, the streams were set and the countdown had begun. This was a great test for mankind, a special test. As they watched from the sfire they glazed down upon the planets below, how could they stay afloat with such little care as to what lay in the skies above them.

@cliff-lothar has clearly been smoking something special. ALL IT TAKES is one of his richest efforts to date, and that’s saying a lot coming off a consistent roll of terrific releases.

This is dance-floor tested, trainspotter approved. *

100 DOLLARS is wiggly pork bun of a beat, our old friend Roland never sounding fatter or more luxurious. The only question here is whether this super-kush urban house bomb is more well paired with a low-slung indica driving in an elite automobile, or a punchy sativa dancing in a world-exclusive night club. Killer either way.

BIG BROTHER is a paranoid romp through the dark corridors of your dance-algorithm, a wonky, dissociative funk experience for heavy heads trying to unlock their own brainwashed brain and SERIOUSLY dance.

Rounding things off is XENIT, a relatively placid, deep, trancey trip that transports you 8 hours in to an amazing party, when you’re loose and well oiled with positive feelings.

Lothar keeps getting better and better. This is extraordinary music and talent that shouldn’t be missed.

"Toe Sucker", the acoustic evidence that a lot of chefs can cook up something extra tasty indeed, even if the ingredients come from three different continents, as TUNNEL SIGNS, DAVID MARSTON and MAX SCHMITT bring them along from their hometurfs in Australia, America and Europe, with a little extra flavouring provided by Johannes Klingebiel. The product is a spicy slow burner, with a healthy portion of acid added to the mix.

Four. It's a powerful little number. Four chambers of the heart, four horsemen of the Apocalypse, four points of the compass, four kickdrums to the bar. And now the number of instalments in Permanent Vacation's compilation series, the latest of which features exclusive tracks from the likes of Young Marco, Man Power and Benedikt Frey.

Permanent Vacation 4 is "dedicated to the more beachy side of the dance floor", and we're premiering Alex Burkat's 'Brooklyn Bridge', one of the standout tracks. The New York-via-Philly producer - who's released on imprints such as Mister Saturday Night and 100% Silk - certainly feels right at home here with this dreamy house offering.

The curtain is drawn back to the sound of gentle harps, before the track kicks off properly with punchy drums and an effortlessly bouncy bassline. But the star is Burkat's incredible melodic touch, with a whole series of juicy synth lines competing for your attention.

After releasing one our first year's biggest EPs in the shape of 'Rules' we're please to finally invite Panthera Krause back into the Lobster den for a trippy, head-spinning white label of lucid house and acid. 

Drawing from a spectrum of electronic-island tropes blended with early 90's rave, Krause develops the chunky MPC-led sound of that first EP by adding layers of shimmer synth work, clanging piano samples, intergalactic acid processing and proper brain-churning drones from beyond the purple sea.

After a split single with Muslimgauze and a single of their own on Optimo Trax we are delighted to present the first Optimo Trax album release by Italy’s Underspreche. The album is split across two fours track EPs, released two weeks apart (and also as a complete digital album).

We try to avoid over-hyping our releases but this one is really fully deserving of the hyperbole I am about to bestow on it. Underspreche first sent me some music a few years ago and seeing them grow and develop has been nothing short of astonishing. I think this is some of the most nuanced and advanced music that Optimo Trax has ever released. There are several dance floor destroyers here but also music for more developed / leading-edge floors too, as well as some music simply designed to make one’s mind melt. It is very rare that I listen to 4/4 music at home but this album has been a constant on my hi fi since it was sent to me.

Super advanced organic sampling, inspired vocalisations, acute psychedelic modular sequences, forward thinking drum programming, this is exactly what I hoped Optimo Trax would be about when I started the label.

In their words -

Our idea is to make an album based on our concept of dancefloor. The entire work was inspired by the classical composition by Carl Maria von Weber called "Aufforderung zum Tanz“; we used the Italian version, "Invito alla danza”.

We wanted to transpose the classical idea of this work (based on the Knight who invites a lady to dance in a salon of a fairy palace) to our world where the dance floor it’s a club, not so different from Weber salon in a certain way!

MIJO - ´Merica

Neither icy cold or even related, Nathan & Timothy Eskimo have been producing and remixing since 2009 across labels including Clouded Vision, Days Of Being Wild and Throne Of Blood. Next up is their debut appearance on Beachcoma (the label owned by Fairmont, Metope and Sid Le Rock). This disco-infused cut is fully of sprightly hi-toms, scintillating hats and claps, with a pitched down titular vox sample. Then the breakdown gets it's wonk on and well, breaks down actually. Lovely messy chrimbo party starter, with something naughty thrown in the punch.

Dutch live-act and DJ duo Artefakt prepare their atmospheric debut album on renowned techno imprint Delsin this February.

Known separately as Robin Koek and Nick Lapien, the pair first appeared on Field Records before follow up releases on Prologue, Delsin and Konstrukt. Individually Nick has been making waves under his Lapien moniker, dropping productions via Fred P’s Soul People Music, Finale Sessions, Rekids and DVS1’s Mistress Recordings, whereas Koek’s intricate sound design work has been performed globally at the likes of Toronto, Viseu, New York, Ohio, Berlin and Amsterdam.

True to their distinct mesmerising aesthetic, the album commences with a suspenseful number named ‘Kinship’ that combines sweeping pads with ominous tones. Pattering drums introduce ‘Tapestry’ before ghostly notes are brought into the equation, leading into ‘Entering The City’ with its rumbling low-end and soaring harmonies.

Next, ‘Somatic Dreams’ initiates with stuttering stabs as distorted nuances operate throughout, making way for the chugging ‘Fernweh’ with its ethereal synths and sci-fi throbs. ‘Return To Reason’ then incorporates heady acid squelches and hypnotic tape delays before opulent chords conclude the package in an ambient finale titled ‘Tapeloop 1’.

Kinship portrays a compelling narrative in a body of work that will undoubtedly keep listeners engaged from start to finish.

nthng finally follows up his four stunning EPs with a full album proper, arriving in a whopping 3xLP pack.

Arriving a good 6 months after the LT029.5 album sampler which debuted both Soms and In My Dreams, nthng adds another seven hazy, hooded techno bangers to those to make up a pretty dazzling body of work.

Opener 'Touches' is true ambient bliss, with shrouded, blissful synths fuzzing into view and cut through by a soft low distant sunlight. 

Both Galaxy and Eternal thump into view with a hi-paced drums colliding and clashing with syncopated stabs and smooth dusty baselines, recalling the tender techno-trance precipice danced by Dutch producers at the start of the 90's.

The huge mysterious fan favourite and title track It Never Ends gets it's pride of place with 9 mins of deep, cavernous techno, all rippling with epic string-synths and washes of mountainous reverb.

Even deeper numbers are extracted from the hard-drive, including the pensively, digitally-bubbling computer jam Unity sitting tidily alongside the super deep and subtle rolls of Abyss.

Rounding the album out is the appropriately-titled Last. A dark, shimmering, almost emotionless number that cements a different idea of the future. A hard, pounding, yelping, depth-charged technoid closer.

For us, the album feels like a real masterpiece, conjuring a spectrum of intimate and emotive moods, feelings and nostalgia-tinged memories that float into the mind, like the settling fog in the valley on a crisp winters morning.

LT029 // nthng - It Never Ends

The island was illuminated beneath the warm hazy glow of the summer sun. The late night was deceptively hot, you might not expect for such heat to be present down south, not in this zone. A group of extravagant individuals had taken to the beach to watch the sun go down amidst a magnificent deep blue backdrop. The evening was young and the luxurious delicacies of a wild and prosperous eternity awaited. What could be better?

Jona Sul's new track 'South Zone' is a pop inspired dance track with emotive undertones. Who better to step up and conquer such a beast that Matt Karmil, who has been on miraculous form as of late.
