As the King Cobra uncoils from a woven basket and flares out its iconic hood, it appears to sway back and forth hypnotically as the snake charmer plays his flute. Timpani solos, a variety of percussion, syncopated rhythms and colorful harmonies are woven together to create an exotic tapestry of sound that will captivate young musicians and their audiences. Puma & The Dolphin releases their first EP and it is massive. Our pick up is a B1 track -  "Cobra Dance".
Taking a similar yet slightly different aproach to the post-punk sound of previous tracks, this tune features a catchy bassline and groovy percussion, alternating between vocal samples, melodic elements, and rhythmic phrases. Dutch XXX imprint is back with its 7th release assembled from four track, 2 from North-American producer Spencer Miles, and 2 from Lithuanian young rising star Zakmina.
Spencer Miles is muisician based in Portland, Oregon. Been already seen with his debut release on Bordello A Parigi in 2018, he is back now to the XXX with his new work.
Heady kicks, claps and pads, vocals that seem to have lost faith and hope in the reality of the passing, Inverted Reallity doesn't even go halfway to describing this one. On their way home they'd taken a wrong turn, they were in unknown territory. It was deafly silent, something didn't seem right. The streets were plastered with old newspaper articles and Missing Person posters; people who, they imagined, were likely never found. This was the underbelly of the city, where the vigilantes and the criminals ruled the streets. You didn't want to be caught off guard in a place like this, you needed your wits about you. One false move and your fate would be determined... 

For their first release of the roaring 20s, Parisian imprint Global Warming bring together four artists with close ties to the label for a VA release of leftfield club cuts. EP curator and label boss Malcolm kicks off proceedings with bass-heavy kicks and celestial vocal samples, followed by Ouai Stéphane and Jon Beige's contributions, who add their own signature touch with frantic bass lines, intricate drum patterns and haunting industrial rhythms. Our pick of the bunch comes from Comic Sans Records and Antinote alumni Slowglide, who makes his debut on the label with chugging post-dubstep that could soundtrack the nightclubs of Gotham City...

The 2nd release on Phase Group comes from the mind of young Belgrade-based producer, Andria.

With o o o o o Andria presents four tracks of otherworldly sounds. Music made on mutant technology for apocalyptic rave rituals, showcasing a deep talent in sound design and rhythmic manipulation.

‘Osion’ opens the EP in epic fashion, melancholic and driving dark IDM that introduces us to Andria's sonic world. '6h of Sna' builds up the intensity with some ominous space-age dancehall. Title-track 'o o o o o' is a heady club tool for serious dance floors, inspired no-doubt by countless nights at Belgrade techno-haven Drugstore, where Andria holds a residency. Finally, 'Komina' brings everything back down to a subterranean crawl, the swirling and whispering sounds of unfamiliar technology echoing to you from all sides.

The river was the only route out of the city. It stretched for miles and miles, ebbing and flowing with the breeze that carried it along. Dark green leaves and sprawling branches formed a canopy over the water, protecting this natural place from prying eyes. It felt peaceful, a place for escaping the stresses of city life. In fact, this river held many secrets, stories that would make your hair stand on end. Its beauty was simply a facade...

Next up on XXX, the Dutch label run by DJ and producr SHMLSS, is good friend and Bordello A Parigi alumni Stijn Sadée. After two contributions to earlier releases for the label, he's now set to release his first original EP on the label, which features a remix from Smala boss Manfredas that they locked in after the Lithuanian producer saw Stijn play live last year. The aesthetics of the label are down to Stijn's brother Thomas who worked closely with him to create something that fitted with the music and his influences.
