Here's a new mix which I recorded for Stacked.1 - playing on Runamuk's VOID sound system a few weeks ago. I was allocated a 1.5 hour set, so I had a real opportunity to take the crowd on a journey through jungle music.... Modern Jungle vs Liquid 2022

This episode aired on the 3rd of April 2022. 

We'll be kicking things off with a lovely new tune from onesevenfour's (VIC) Enfuse before letting things take a turn to the dark side with new tunes from local neurofunk producers Formidian and Yzmikh and dark jungle tune from Friske. After that we'll have an Xsetra take over - we'll be listening to an interview + live mix he recorded whilst in town last weekend + some tunes from his side projects 'X-Tec' (techno) and 'LOK" (psychedelic dub).

EPISODE 17 - The Brisbane Drum N B4zzz Show Ft. XSETRA

This show aired on 4ZZZ (Digital) on Sunday the 29th of May 2022, one day and 5 years since Marcus Intalex passed. Widely considered a pioneer of the Drum And Bass sound, his music remains his legacy.

On this show I wanted to pay tribute to his unique sound (which spanned over 2 decades) by creating a mix which features 100% Marcus Intalex tunes, as well as choosing some of his lesser known tracks. 

This mix goes for the entire show (2 hours) and features Intalex originals, remixes and collaborations (with ST Files, MC Fox, Calibre, S.P.Y, MC DRS, Lynx, Dj Marky, XRS, Spirit and Jubei) as well as tracks from his team project with ST Files (M.I.S.T).

Here's a recording of the set I played at the Flower Flame Spirit Festival 2022 with MC E'l Kontos... I designed this set to suit an MC who freestyles a lot... SAMp3 live at Flower Flame Spirit Festival

This episode first aired on ZedDigital on the 10th of July 2022 and features a bunch of fresh local tuna from the likes of Yussi, Operon, Falköne and Tenuous + a new one from Tiki Taane and friends over in NZ.

Then we had a chat with DATA ROAMING (Lucas Hansen) who has actually been producing house music for the last 4 years, but has recently found DNB and has decided to put house music on hold so that he can focus on producing DNB (ken oaf m8). We speak about the differences and similarities between the 2 genres when it comes to production, mixing and the types of people that like those styles of music. 

For the last hour Lucas will be gets on the decks to showcase some of his originals and remixes, whilst bouncing between the underground and commercial styles of DNB, before finishing off with some fat halftime. (tracklist below)

I was lucky enough to play at a cool little party in here in Thailand recently. I used my iphone to record my set. Whilst the audio quality may be off putting for some people, I always find listening back to mixes recorded with a room mic to be really charming. The chatter of the crowd, the banter behind the decks, every little DJ mistake performed and resolved, it's not perfect, but it's what happened. This was my last show in Australia before I went travelling and wound up living abroad. I had a 45 minute headline slot with my sound system crew back home (big up Renegade Playground and Deaf Toll). The show was filmed but the footage was lost and I've been sitting on this mix for a while, unsure what to do with it. I put the word out to see if anyone might be interested in making a video and Trista (ElfinTreestar) put her hand up and made this amazing video for us. Thank you Trista!! This is a mixed genre set performed on 3 decks, the audio is raw, and if you were there you'll remember the energy, if you weren't I hope you can feel it whilst listening to this now! As a DJ this was a pretty challenging one to put together with lots of BPM changes. I went into this not caring about genres, I just knew that I had 45 minutes and wanted to go as intense, crazy and weird or dark as I could. 

Upon reflection when listening to this mix I realised it unintentionally told the story of my musical journey, from finding DNB through neurofunk, and then eventually meeting the Renegades and being introduced to gabba, hardcore, mutant bass and a bunch other new and exciting sounds.
