DRUM AND BASS 2021 Heavy Rollers, Jungle and Neuro Mix

Here's a new mix which I recorded for Stacked.1 - playing on Runamuk's VOID sound system a few weeks ago. I was allocated a 1.5 hour set, so I had a real opportunity to take the crowd on a journey through jungle music.... I was sick with covid when making this mix so I felt like making something spacey (like my headspace was at the time). longer transitions, lots of blending, which gave me time to play with effects and create loops of ambient breaks to play over drops to create a floaty atmosphere... until the end where it takes a turn and gets a bit darker and chaotic. I was lucky enough to play at a cool little party in here in Thailand recently. I used my iphone to record my set. Whilst the audio quality may be off putting for some people, I always find listening back to mixes recorded with a room mic to be really charming. The chatter of the crowd, the banter behind the decks, every little DJ mistake performed and resolved, it's not perfect, but it's what happened. TBDNBS s3e9 - LOCALS SHOW w/ SAMp3 & Skitzoid

This was my last show in Australia before I went travelling and wound up living abroad. I had a 45 minute headline slot with my sound system crew back home (big up Renegade Playground and Deaf Toll). The show was filmed but the footage was lost and I've been sitting on this mix for a while, unsure what to do with it. I put the word out to see if anyone might be interested in making a video and Trista (ElfinTreestar) put her hand up and made this amazing video for us. Thank you Trista!! This is a mixed genre set performed on 3 decks, the audio is raw, and if you were there you'll remember the energy, if you weren't I hope you can feel it whilst listening to this now! As a DJ this was a pretty challenging one to put together with lots of BPM changes. I went into this not caring about genres, I just knew that I had 45 minutes and wanted to go as intense, crazy and weird or dark as I could. 

Upon reflection when listening to this mix I realised it unintentionally told the story of my musical journey, from finding DNB through neurofunk, and then eventually meeting the Renegades and being introduced to gabba, hardcore, mutant bass and a bunch other new and exciting sounds.
