This is my set from a NYE gig at CV-22 (an outdoor bush doof). I was given an hour and a half to mix, starts out with some liquid, then moves back and forwards through heavier DNB and jungle. Some oldschool tunes double dropped in there too! I hope you enjoy.

NYE 21/22 Mix

Oli Lewis has been producing DnB properly since 2018, growing up in Cornwall, on the very southern peninsula of England, far away from the action. 
He has had songs supported by Krust, Need For Mirrors, Bailey, Sal, Serum, Anile, Taxman, Doc Scott, and others. 
Alongside having collaborations with Need For Mirrors released on Commercial Suicide and V Recordings; and his own solo releases on Sub-Division and Grid Recordings, Oli has featured on one of Sofa Sound's 'Sofa King Sick' compilations.
2022 sees Oli releasing a few more projects on Grid Recordings, as well as writing songs with his collaborators Mela Casma, a production outfit between Oli, Hexa, and Scudd.

Legend of the Brazilian scene, DJ Andy, has assembled some of the brightest lights, and hottest rising stars of the Brazilian Drum & Bass family and brought them all together on one huge compilation!

With a history stretching back to the very beginnings of rave music in the early nineties, DJ Andy is a foundational figure in Brazilian drum & bass. He's seen the trends and fashions, the sub-genres and evolutions, the mainstream hits and the underground anthems. He knows the music inside-out. And, with this compilation, he's offered us an insight into the kaleidoscope of styles and the surge of talent that his scene has to offer.

Of course, the Chronic and V faithful will have already been introduced to many of these artists. We're talking the likes of L-Side, Alibi, BTK, Critycal Dub and more; names we all recognise from the top end of the download charts and the set lists of the biggest deejays in the business. But then there are also those making their debut for the V family. Producers like Phizical and No Scandal, who are about to find a whole new, highly appreciative, audience.

With this strength in depth available to him in the community, DJ Andy's managed to draw together 20 tracks that reflect the full range of what this music has to offer. You'll hear influences from multiple genres, you'll hear the darkness and the light, the vibrancy and the viciousness. If you thought "Brazilian D&B" was confined to one particular sound, you'd better brace yourself for some powerful suprises.

As DJ Andy says himself, "I wanted to show that our songs can be heard everywhere. At festivals, nightclubs, at parties with friends, while travelling and even as a dinner soundtrack."

We'll be kicking things off with a lovely new tune from onesevenfour's (VIC) Enfuse before letting things take a turn to the dark side with new tunes from local neurofunk producers Formidian and Yzmikh and dark jungle tune from Friske. After that we'll have an Xsetra take over - we'll be listening to an interview + live mix he recorded whilst in town last weekend + some tunes from his side projects 'X-Tec' (techno) and 'LOK" (psychedelic dub).

The spanish label introduces for the first time this concept in which concepts like halftime, jungle and future beats collide in a colorful release aimed to the most purist heads with six tracks from various artists around the globe.  

Behind this release you’ll find some new and old faces, including Khramer, Medok and Peron and giving the welcome to BMA, Hystatus, Offish and Trainsient. A diverse release both in style and origin, as artists on the release are from across Europe and USA. 

A release from Parallel Depth that’s aimed to work as a call for explorative and different artists that are looking for a home for their music.

I was lucky enough to play at a cool little party in here in Thailand recently. I used my iphone to record my set. Whilst the audio quality may be off putting for some people, I always find listening back to mixes recorded with a room mic to be really charming. The chatter of the crowd, the banter behind the decks, every little DJ mistake performed and resolved, it's not perfect, but it's what happened. And listening to a recording like this will always teleport my memory to the time and place. I hope it might take you somewhere too! x

SAMp3 @ Beat Street Festival 2024

I've finally decided to release this set, which I performed at EFF 2024, almost a year late. Last year was a weird year for me, and at the time of this festival I was going through a particularly dark period. At the start of my set I struggled to relax and made some mistakes which took me a while to recover from before I managed to enjoy myself on stage. I'd put so much energy into preparing this set, when the moment came to perform it and then to make some mistakes was way more of a bummer then it should have been. Anyway. I had this copy I recorded of myself playing almost the exact same set I played at the festival in my practice recordings. I'm much happier with this version and think it's probably one of the better mixes I've made, which is annoyingly ironic. It wasn't doing much good sitting in my private folder, so now it's public for you to enjoy, or not.
