Ep 2 - The Brisbane Drum N B4zzz Show ft MC SHURESHOCK & DJ JOURNEYMAN

This episode aired on the 19th of Dec 2021 and features guest mixes from Brisbane producers Formidian and Yzmikh, as well as an interview with them where we discuss their recent release on Bass Rabbit. You'll also hear new tunes from Current Value, Skitzoid and Hologram plus a tune from Melbourne outfit Kill Kevin and a little guest mix from myself right at the end.

Ep. 3 - The Brisbane Drum N B4zzz Show (Neurofunk Special) Ft FORMIDIAN and YZMIKH

This episode aired on Brisbane community radio station 'Zed Digital' on the 26th of December 2021, and features live recordings of mixes from local DJ's Del La Haye and Kiips plus an interview with The Femme Fatales founder Christy Schulze (DJ Oska). New tunes from Roni Size, Churiki (Melb)& Mudgumbo (Bris).

This episode of The Brisbane Drum n B4zzz Show aired on the 2nd of Jan 2022 and is a mix featuring the biggest tunes of 2021 as decided by the local drum and bass community, including an unreleased VIP of 'Verbal' by Sal and Need For Mirrors.

This episode aired on 4ZZZ (digital) on the 13th of Feb 2022. It featured a bunch of new stuff from local talent Yzmikh, Formidian and Phrase (NZ) as well as a soon to be released 8ball Audio tune from K+Lab (NZ/NSW), and a forthcoming tune from Last Armor's (WA) new EP. We'll also be having a chat with Nick Lipsanos (NIQ). NIQ is a producer and DJ from the Sunny Coast who started DJ'ing when he was only 13!! He's made us a fantastic guest mix, then you'll hear a couple golden oldies at the end of the show. 

NIQ's interview starts around 30 mins and his guest mix starts around the 60 min mark.

I'm excited to share this with the world - It's an electronic tribal house tune that follows a story.

'Penumbra' means a space of partial illumination around a dense shadow (like an eclipse). In medical terms it is referred to as the area that surrounds a core of dead tissue following an ischaemic event like a stroke. Penumbra tissue is potentially destined to die too - but can be saved if it receives the right treatment quickly.

I chose 'Penumbra' for the name of this song and as a means to reflect on my own healing journey - which I'm sure is widely relatable. Shadow work can be terrifying and dark.. and at times, the worst outcome can feel inevitable. And sometimes.. it may be... 
And sometimes, when the shadow is held up to the light, we may find an area of vulnerability, of Penumbra. The partial light around or next to the dark. This area, when understood and held correctly, can heal - despite all expectation and likelihood that it wouldn't. And, if given what it needs at the right time, can survive and even learn to dance ✨

S3E29 w/ De La Haye ft. CUTTLE (The Brisbane Drum n B4zzz Show)

Cold air hangs thick in the early days of December, winter is here and we have a soundtrack to accompany the tone. 

Calibre is regarded as one of the most innovative and prolific producers within electronic music, over the years he has become a definitive figure in Drum & Bass, having elevated the genre in a way in which is celebrated and adored. Originating from Belfast he has recorded music which has tugged at the heartstrings, encouraging a new chain of thought associated with the sound. Albums like "Musique Concrete" and "Second Sun" remain some of the most crucial and important pieces of work to emerge from the Northern Irish producer and he is widely considered to be one of the most significant electronic artists of the past twenty years. 

At the tail end of last week Dominick Martin released a new album through his own imprint, Signature Records. It showcases a change of pace for the producer as he focusses on ambient textures and the poignancy of life. It was recorded across a four year period following the passing of a close friend and as such a sombre, humble sense of honest self expression runs throughout. Titled "Planet Hearth" the album was written in Valentia on Ireland's west coast. It's a beautiful record which highlights his own approach to music and offers an insight into the soul of a musician who has contributed so much. 

We are hugely honoured to be able to present a mix from Calibre which showcases ambient music, past and present.
