For “Bird’s Eye View,” I did my best to recreate the writing and playing styles of one of my favorite modern artists Kristian Matsson, better known by his stage name “The Tallest Man on Earth.” Matsson pairs abstract lyrics containing lots of pastoral themes and metaphors with complex guitar parts to get a final product that is almost always inspiring. As soon as I had written the melody of “Bird’s Eye View” on guitar, I knew I wanted to try to imitate his lyric writing style as best as I could. While some of the rhymes may look a bit forced when reading them on paper, I believe that they work quite well when they inhabit the song. This song is the only one I chose to add any sort of effect on instruments in post-production, electing to add reverb to my voice to enhance the airy feel of the song.
