Although Robert and Sam have been doing music together as umami for almost nine years, „In Exchange For Everything“ is their first album. This name is an actual description of what happened. They literally did not release anything else for two years while working on the album. It was like a spaceship with a broken engine that needed to be fixed. But now it is ready to take off.
The tracks and songs on the album are all trying to capture a specific kind of feeling. The way you feel when you are riding up in an elevator made of glass, see the sunrise on the horizon and know that this is the first day of the rest of your life.
	Some of them are made for the club, like „Behind The Wheel“ or „Stank“. Others have a more laid-back vibe. „Number Of The Beast“, a cover of an Iron Maiden song, is a dance around the bonfire, summoning devils and demons.  „Stars“ is about a journey into the intimacy of really knowing another person, with hammering synths and airy vocals, which are performed by Sam, like all other vocals on the album.
	The one exception to this is are the vocals on "Terra Mount". These are written and performed by Monolink, the only other artist featured on the album. Enchanted organs and choirs accompany his lyrics throughout the song.
	The album ends with the magical "And Stay With Me There Forever", a song that slowly transforms from a small stream of fragile sounds to an avalanche of bass and synths.
All in all, „In Exchange For Everything“ is the big statement umami wanted to make with their first album. Something that shows the whole spectrum of what they want to achieve with this project and a hint about where the journey goes.

Laconia features collaborations with fellow producers Cioz and Cook Strummer, as well as a special apparition by Sam’s paternal figure playing the Oud on Mirage. The tracks explore a diverse array of dispositions, from groovy up-warmers such as Mangata or Louna to more lively dancefloor aggregators such as Kamala Bani, on to the deeply polarizing, whirlwind synth dinger Guz or the more experimental self-evident Not Much To Say.

A novel detail makes an appearance on Je te vois, an acoustic electronic dance number with poetic lyrics tenderly sung in French for the first time. The artist’s romantic side also shows through the mystical elements interspersed throughout, from the spellbinding Encanto to the dreamy soundscapes of Atreyu, named after the famous German fantasy book character.

Thanks to a modest key riff and more cosmic effects, Aubade lends its meaning of “greeting in the sun” to the atmosphere, rounding off the release on an incandescent note.

Maga & Nhii - Monogram EP

A collaboration of like-minded artists and remixers make for a brimming EP of transcendental house music on Maga & Nhii’s debut for Flying Circus Recordings. The two upcoming producers, who have between them released music on Stil Vor Talent, The Gardens Of Babylon, Rebellion der Traumer and Kindisch, pair up across two tracks, and remix duties are ably handled by Tim Engelhart and Wild Dark. ‘Monogram’ is a breezy and seductively dynamic track, buoyed with huge waves of synths and cinematic sweeps, with a rolling rhythm that is simply irresistible. Wild Dark follow up their recent release for Supernature with a more percussive and tribal re-working of ‘Monogram’ whilst still retaining the epic feel already constructed in its original form.

Accompanying track, ‘Sirens Of Space’ gets cosmically charged for an epic eleven-minute trip, resplendent with shimmering keys and galactic drones, all underpinned with a steady and progressive groove. The ever-prolific Tim Engelhardt (Poker Flat/Watergate) deploys a fantastic remix that reduces the elements to a more direct and terse translation.

Electronic duo Dear Humans release Fire: a protest song in support of the current Black Lives Matter movement, the proceeds from which will go to a charity fighting for change in the US.  

Music has always been the voice of change. True change requires Fire... and change is in the air. 

The new single from US-based duo comprising Corey Epstein and Alex Who?, "Fire" is a politically-charged electronic anthem-in-the-making. Rolling along on a mid-tempo beat, the range of Alex’s vocally from passionate restraint to barely contained rage give Fire a power and poignancy that cannot be ignored.

All proceeds from the sale of Fire will be donated to the charity Color Of Change, the  US’s largest online racial justice organization. As a national online force driven by 1.7 million members, they help persuade decision-makers in corporations and government to create a more human and less hostile world for Black people in America.
