This is my original song "Lone Wolves." It is inspired by feeling lonely, but some good comes out of it by remembering that God is always there with us--and sometimes by being lonely, we have time to think about things, figure out who we are, and sometimes be more creative.
This is of course another personal song I've written, so I figured I'd explain why I wrote it.
I went to a total of 8 different schools from elementary to high school and lived in two different states (Pennsylvania and North Carolina) during those times. Repeatedly being the new kid was never exactly easy, especially when having generalized anxiety almost my whole life. I was shy and quiet until I got to know people. I was often the outcast and sometimes treated differently because I was different. Because of this, I felt lonely most of the time.
I reached a point in my life where I felt so lonely that I didn't even know what my purpose was or why I was here. I began making mistakes, questioned my existence, and turned into someone I never used to be.
I started going back to church a couple years ago and praising God made me feel a strong, special connection that I couldn't feel from anything else. I noticed that I kept trying to search the world for answers. I didn't realize that God was always there for me, I just didn't invite Him in. I was the one who moved away from Him.
When I was alone, I tried looking at the bright side of things. It gave me time to reflect on my life. It also gave me time to use my creativity and do what I loved most. I began finding myself, thought about life, and tried making my relationship better with God.
Sometimes I still struggle with the feeling of loneliness especially since I've moved across the country to Oregon, but I believe God is greater no matter what. "Fear not, for I am with you" is what He says in Isaiah 41:10. No matter how many years, my feelings of loneliness on Earth are temporary, not permanent. God is permanent and He is love, He is my Father and He loves us all. I just have to remember to invite Him into my life and ask myself, "But do I make Him feel lonely?"
Shout out to all the lone wolves out there. You are loved always and this song is for you. :)
