The mighty DJ Godfather is back with a brand-new album. If you thought last year's 'Electro Beats For Freaks' was a bombshell you'll be blown away by 'This Detroit Thing Of Ours'.

DJ Godfather (Brian Jeffries) is one of the founding fathers of the Detroit Ghetto Tech scene but has gone on to be so much more over a career that spans almost 3 decades. Once again he breaks all the rules. The album features 46 tracks and like his last album, they segue into one another, until the series of EPs on vinyl (and digital) which will follow featuring full-length versions and different mixes of some of the album's tracks.

The third track “What Up” Featuring Parkhouse is an energetic tune with the signature sound that is known for. Delivering a vibrant mix of the Detroit sound and techno. For those wanting an insight into Ghetto Tech, head to track 38, 'It's Ghetto Tech' featuring Dan Diamond which draws a line under the many questions posed to Godfather over the years about the genre.

Premiere: DJ Godfather & Parkhouse "What Up" - Databass

Welcome back for the second instalment of my monthly show on ARP Radio titled "Metaphysical Groove". A 2 hour club style mix where I will play all the most recent music I've stumbled across in the previous month.

This time round I'm playing all new stuff, the vast majority of which have been promo's received over the past 4 weeks. Theres some really good new techno out there at the moment and don't let anybody tell you otherwise.

She is A&R for Format Recordings, resident DJ and co-producer of their weekly techno podcast series, Format.FM, and joint curator of the Format underground warehouse event series. A classically trained pianist and saxophonist, her expansive understanding of structure and rhythm allows her to draw inspiration from all kinds of music, from soulful jazz to dark, gritty drum and bass. Brenda’s talent for laying down everything from pulsing ethereal beats to jackin’ stompers demonstrate her versatility all while maintaining consistent themes of darker, harder techno.
