Causation - Drop Psyence

With Autumn in full swing, the leaves fallen and the nights drawing in, we thought it was time to bring a few rays of sunshine into your life, this time in the form of the brand new Sun And Bass Compilation. 

The package includes 12 brand new exclusive tracks from some of our favourite artists and also a super limited 12” that perfectly captures the Sun And Bass vibe.

One side showcases the sublime Calibre remix of Arp XP’s ‘Winter in Sardinia’ track from the 2011 compilation – the remix perfectly capturing that musical essence the festival is known for, with the original coming from not only a Sardinian artist, but also one of Sun And Bass’s longest standing residents.

The flip exhibits as many ties – a Paradox remix of ‘How You Move Me’ from Lynx, Hellrazor & Kemo. This tune became one of the anthems of the festival with Kemo’s lyrics taking you deep into the Sardinian countryside. Ever-present Sun And Bass guest Paradox puts his own twist on the track, taking you even deeper in, a pure, proper slab of real drum and bass.

The package is completed with a digital bundle from many of Sun And Bass’s most important stalwarts, including tracks from dBridge, Ulterior Motive, Seba, ArpXP, Alite and MC Fava, Chris SU and Nymfo, Fracture and Mark System, Code 3, Tokyo Prose and FD and Collette. 

Each of these artists brings forth a piece of music that encapsulates what Sun And Bass means to them, the feelings it gives them and the place that it takes them to. 

The digital bundle will be released in the next few weeks so keep your eyes peeled for that – and make sure you’re on your toes if you want to grab one of the super limited 12”s that’s sure to become a treasured collectors item.

It's been said that my style is generally a bit dark. This mix is in answer to that. You want jazz?! We got jazz!! You want strings?! We got strings!! You want a guy in a three-piece suit playing a tiny piano?! He's asleep on my floor right now!!...metaphorically.

I have to be honest: doing a melodic, jazzy set was a little difficult. It requires a different mindset than my usual ear-bleed mixes, but I like a challenge. Enjoy! This may not be the last installment of the "Softer" series.

2012 has been a fulfilling year for IM:Ltd and with the sonic summer being definitively over, the French based label gets back moodier than ever with ‘Junction 12’, a collection of 6 meticulously picked Drum & Bass tracks from some of the hottest talents on board that comes in the form of a 3x12” vinyl series.

Disc 1 sees Berlin producer Es.tereo going back to some of his darker playgrounds with ‘Junction 12’, an autonomic influenced stepper featuring some obsessive vocals. 
On the B side, French techstep veterans Kantyze deliver a surprisingly uncluttered roller named ‘Tough Breaker’. Simple & efficient.

With releases on labels such as Goldie’s legendary imprint Metalheadz , 2012 has been a wealthy year as well for Mortem as he returns to IM:Ltd with ‘Converter’, another brilliant track that won’t contradict his well earned reputation for creating music that causes serious damages on dance floors across the globe. The flip consist of ‘Amour King’, the first vinyl effort from Quartz , a new duo hailing from Cardiff.

On Disc 3, Gerwin steps up his game with ‘It’s All In Your Head’, a seedy piece of minimal tech funk. Once again, his ease and versatility definitively makes him one of the name to be watched out for in the coming months. Last but not least, Belgian producer Atmospherix teams up with S-Vb for some ‘modular revenge’.

This is a diversion from my usual style. "Lagtime" is a mix of downtempo and liquid drum 'n' bass, including a Drop Psyence original downtempo track, "Why Are We Whispering?"

I must give Silent some credit in this mix: I never really had much interest in mixing downtempo, until I heard his "The Undying" series. Big ups to you, brother!

So, this is something a little different than usual. I've been wanting to do an amen breaks/jungle/breakcore set for a while, but didn't like my collection, and I got distracted. I spent some time and gathered some great pieces. So, here it is! "The Magi" is made mostly of tracks produced by some of the founders of the style and most the influential producers in jungle and DnB, like Dom & Roland, Tech Itch, B-Key, Goldie, Digital & Spirit, and the like (hence the name: "magi" = "wise ones").
