I got my first synth in 1997 (a Kawai K4, originally made in 1989), and have been making electronic music on and off since then. In the past I have also played piano, electric guitar, acoustic guitar, bass guitar, electric organ, bongo drums, plus I've had a go on drum kits a few times. In the late '80's, I had piano lessons for a while, although I never even got to take my Grade 1 because I always much preferred messing around making up my own stuff than playing other peoples boring old tunes. Apart from that and learning some basic stuff from rock guitar tutorial books in the '90's, I'm pretty much self-taught. I can play the keyboard reasonably well - certainly well enough to play my ideas into the computer anyway. I can probably play better than you can, unless of course your name is Tim Minchin or Bill Bailey, in which case you are probably better than me in several ways, not just musically.
