‘Mbuki Mvuki’ comes from the Buntu tribe in Africa. Yes, they have words for that irresistible urge you can get when you hear such good music it gets you right in the mood that you just HAVE to take off all your clothes so you can dance around naked! To dance with ones tribe is something that connects us through human history. For the talented Sandra Marques, its especially the downtempo music with its wide range of style influences and pleasant bpm-range that makes it perfect for dancing and getting into trance state. Mbuki Mvuki means to her: forget about any narrowing conventions, be free and dance with your beloved ones. 

Paboona started the Mbuki Mvuki Movement with the idea to create a platform for talented female artists to help close the gap just a little bit more, as the music industry is still mainly ‘man-dominated’. Sandra Marques works in the software industry and is because of that used to deal with being the minority as a woman. Women can feel a blockage when it comes to playing with music or technology. Thinking “Oh no that’s not for me I’m not technical enough”. Well guess what: you don’t have to be a technical genius in order to understand software or DJ controller, all you have to be is a bit curious. Go for it <3
