This week's Naviar Haiku is by Sôen Nakagawa: 
One note of the Shakuhachi / resounds endlessly / piercing the winter clouds

This is single a live take on the modular synth.   I tried to get a breathy, flute-like sound, which I then ran through Strymon BigSky with none of the dry signal mixed in. I also ran this through Clouds, to sample and pitch-shift the notes, and ultimately to hold the sound endlessly at the finish of the track. The main repeated ostinato is several sine waves which are delicately frequency modulating each other, with an envelope that gradually changes from percussive to sustained and back. Bass is a simple Dark Energy patch, and the higher sequence is an 11-note sequence that has extra notes added occasionally, and the envelope on the voice picks out a more regular pattern so that the '11-ness' is not so apparent.

So when I wrote beat #42 just to keep things more fun, I sent it to the talented Mariam Janjgava and asked her to do whatever comes to her mind with it. But I didn't expect she'd do something this tasty, catchy and silky smooth 🤤 Them vocals she sang on it are so fn gooooood that I decided to turn this into a short song.
