Being Hindu - A Conversation with  Sri Guru Rohit Arya | Yogi | Spiritual Mentor | Polymath

The Indic civilization has had rich, hoary Kshatriya traditions which gave rise to equally rich and profound martial traditions like the Sanatan Shastra Vidya, which literally means the ‘timeless science of weapons.’  This ancient art of battle is traced back to Adi Deva Shiva who gave this knowledge to Pashupats, from whom it passed on to Kapaliks, Nagavanshis, Suryavanshis and subsequently to Rajputs, Naths, Sikhs, Marathas, Jats and other martial communities of India. 

Guru Nidar Singh Nihang, the sole surviving Guru of the classical Baba Darbara Singh Shastar Akhara established in 1661, gives us a fascinating account of how Shastra Vidya flourished in India till the arrival of the British, who not only banned possession of weapons but subdued and suppressed all native martial traditions and systematically laid them to waste. Improvising ways to hoodwink the British to keep their weapons, the brave Nihangs strove against all odds to preserve their closely guarded art which was teetering on the brink of extinction.

Demonstrating the technical and metaphysical aspects of Shastra Vidya encompassing martial yoga, body mechanics and other sophisticated, highly swift and efficient techniques, Guru Nidar Singh Ji makes a case for the revival of this forgotten science, deeply rooted in Hindu and Sikh martial, historical and spiritual traditions.

It has often been suggested that Indian nationhood came into existence with the unification of its landmass under colonial rule. This commonplace claim begs a vital question: what constitutes nationhood? Is our national consciousness as inchoate as being forged through external impulses? And if not, what is really our idea about ourselves? 

As a keen lifelong student and writer of history Smita Mukerji attempts to answer this question in this Sangam Talk, since this is also the most important function of history. As a frame of reference she has selected the rise and course of the Maratha Empire, as this was the strongest bid of native Indians to assert themselves against a foreign culture. Gurudev Nidar Singh is the sole-surviving master and ninth teacher (gurdev) of the Baba Darbara Singh Shastar Vidya Akhara, a classical school of learning established in 1661. It is the last remnant of the ancient traditional Indian battlefield system called Sanatan Shastar Vidiya.

Through 25 years of intense study and demanding physical training, Gurudev Nidar Singh has managed to preserve this closely guarded art that has teetered on the brink of extinction for the last 150 years. He has dedicated his life to preserving and sharing this precious heritage for the benefit of current and future generations.

Love Jihad: The Real Problem And The Right Legal Solution | Arihant Pawariya

Fourth of the faith systems that took form from one of the only two Knowledge Cultures
of the World, the Vedic, Sikh Dharma originating with the deep meditational thought of
Guru Nanak Dev ji, took, in its evolution through the ten Gurus, in response to the times
a different trajectory from the other three Indic Systems – the Sanatana, the Jain and the
Bauddha. To the extant that all the four systems have a shared core of human values, the
Sikh Dharma while retaining the ethical materialism of the Jain and the Bauddha faiths, it
remained closer to the Sanatana system in its meditational faith in nirguna Brahm.
However, it went closer to the other two systems in its social philosophy. And its
movement from akaal to Khalsa is a trajectory different from all the three. In a way it is
the culmination of the world’s most ancient thought system, that of Inda, from the
Rgveda to Sri Guru Granth Sahib.

Akaal to Khalsa: Sikh Philosophy & Other Three Indic Systems | Dr. Kapil Kapoor

मुस्लिम नेता प्रायः उग्र बयान देते और कार्रवाईयाँ करते रहते हैं। यह भारत और अनेक लोकतांत्रिक देशों में आम नजारा है। साथ ही, निरंतर शिकायतें और विशेषाधिकारी माँगे भी करते रहते हैं। सदा अलगाव दावेदारी धमकी और शिकायत का लहज़ा खुलेआम रहा है।  उनकी कथनी करनी और शैली सभी दिखाती है की वे एक दबंग और विशेषाधिकार की राजनीति करते है

तो क्या मुस्लिम नेता क़त्ल कर दे तो चर्चा भी नहीं होनी चाहिए और हिन्दू आह भी भरें तो बदनाम किये जाए ?

इस्लामिक राष्ट्रों में अल्पसंख्यकों या काफिरों को तो मौलिक अधिकार की भी मनाही है परन्तु भारत में तो खुले आम भारत के टुकड़े टुकड़े करने की धमकियां सुनाई देती है।  

हर जगह से हिन्दू ही मार कर भगाये गए हैं ना की मुस्लिम।  

तो सवाल ये है :

१) किसको किस से शिकायत होनी चाहिए ?
२) क्या ये दोहरापन हमेशा चल सकेगा ?

विवेकशील मुस्लिमों को इस दोहरेपन की समीक्षा, और मानवता के साथ समानता से रहने के लिए पुनर्विचार करना चाहिए क्यूंकि मुग़ल भी अगर यहाँ शासन चला पाएं तो सिर्फ राजपूतो से संधि करने की वजह से। अब हर एक चीज़ पूरे दुनिया के सामने फटाफट आ जाता है सोशल मीडिया और मास्स मीडिया के द्वारा की भारत में इस्लाम की नकली कहानी चलती है जो संसार भर के असली इस्लाम की असलियत से अलग है हिन्दुओं को बेवकूफ बनाने के लिए। 

भारत के मुसलमानो को इस्लाम के ठेकेदारों से प्रभावित न हो कर अपने आप पुनर्विचार करना पड़ेगा की इस्लाम की और क़ुरान के अल्लाह की एवं इस्लाम के पैगम्बर मोहम्मद की असलियत और सच्चाई क्या है। और जिस दिन वे इस असलियत को जान जाएंगे तो इन इस्लाम के ठेकेदारों की दूकान बंद हो जायेगी।

भारत के विचारशील मुसलमानो को ये सोचना पड़ेगा की क्या हमें हलाला जैसे प्रथाओं से लेस इस्लाम जो की सिर्फ मुल्ला और मौलवी और उलेमा को ही फायदा देता है और मुसलमानो को पिच्छड़ा ही रखना चाहते हैं , उसको मानते चले ?

इस्लाम में संगीत और नृत्य एवं अभिनय या कोई भी कला को अपनी ज़िन्दगी में लाने पे पाबंदी है , क्या ऐसा जीवन जीना चाहेंगे ? यदि आप ऐसे नहीं है तो आप कुरान के हिसाब से असली मुसलमान नहीं है। तो इस्लाम को छोड़ने में कोई दिक्कत नहीं होना चाहिए। और अगर असली मुस्लमान बनना है जो काफिरों को मारने के लिए यानी की जिहाद करने के लिए सदा आतुर रहने चाहिए तो हमें भी प्रतिकार और अपनी रक्षा करने का संवैधानिक अधिकार है और करेंगे।  

अब हम एक संवैधानिक देश में रहते हैं तो इस्लाम को छोड़ने में कोई दिक्कत नहीं है।  

यह पुनर्विचार उन्हें आज न कल करना ही होगा। इसी विषय पर एक अपील।

भारतीय मुसलमानों से एक आग्रह | शंकर शरण | नीरज अत्रि

To understand the stories of the esteemed mythological  heroes, we need to take in account their lives and times. This talk by Sushri Neena Rai about the wonderous Ayodhya, that has been the centre of the Ramayan, is an attempt to elucidate the same. 
Sung by Luv and Kush, composed by the Sage Valmiki - 'Ramayan' has captured the imagination of people across the world since ages. No one grows up in India untouched by the beautiful love story of Ram and Sita. Every Dushera we celebrate the victory of Ram over Ravan, victory of good over evil. Every Deepavali, one hears about the welcome of Ram and Sita back to Ayodhya, but amongst all the celebrations one hardly pays attention to the fascinating city of Ayodhya. 


About the Speaker:

Sushri Neena Rai is a student of Sanskrit  with a keen interest in Dharmic Scriptures and a devotee of Sri Ram and Sita. After having stayed overseas for more than a decade, she decided to move back to Bharat in order to contribute to the country and its people. She is an alumna of of the Indian Institute of Mass Communication, New Delhi. When she is not working for her business, she is busy reading, writing and often painting.

Rama's Ayodhya: Part-1  | Neena Rai | #SangamTalks

It is a much debated question if Buddhism is Hindu or not.   Some people juxtapose Buddhism and Hinduism. Dr. Elst, on the other hand, says that Buddhism was a ‘sampradaya’ of Hinduism and that the Buddha never talked of himself as anything but a Hindu (at a time when even the word ‘Hindu’ was not yet in use.) In this talk, he examines various aspects of the Buddha and Buddhism, like caste, practices, beliefs, concepts, and rituals among others, drawing out conspicuously common roots between Buddhism and Hinduism.

About the Speaker:

A Belgian Indologist and one of the few Westerners to actively defend Hinduism, Dr. Koenraad Elst (°Leuven 1959) distinguished himself early on as eager to learn and to dissent. After a few hippie years, he did his Masters in Indology, Sinology, and Philosophy, followed by original fieldwork in BHU and Doctorate on Hindu nationalism. 
He has published numerous books and innumerable articles and has earned both laurels and ostracism with his findings on hot items like Islam, multiculturalism and the secular state, the roots of Indo-European, the Ayodhya temple, Mahatma Gandhi's legacy, the dark side of Buddhism, reinvention of Hinduism, Maoism, direct democracy, defence of threatened freedoms, and the Belgian question.

Pasmanda Muslim bigotry - An Ashrafia threat | Faiyaz Ahamad Fyzie 
अशराफ शब्द 'शरीफ' शब्द का बहुवचन है जिसका अर्थ उच्च, या सभ्य, यानि सभ्य समाज। अशराफ मुसलमानों में विदेशी उच्च जाति मुस्लिम शामिल हैं। तो यह कहना की जातिवाद केवल हिंदू धर्म में ही मौजूद है एक मिथक है। वस्तुतः मुसलमानों को दिए गए सभी लाभ व् प्रतिनिधित्व पर अशराफ का वर्चस्व है। इसके अलावा, इस्लामिक रीति-रिवाजों और कानून पर मुस्लिम पर्सनल लॉ बोर्ड के प्रकाशन,  'मजमूये कानूने इस्लामी' (इस्लामी कानूनों का संग्रह) में स्पष्ट रूप से केवल बराबर की जातियों(कूफु) में विवाह को ही मान्यता दी गयी है। यानि वे मुस्लिम समुदाय में जाति विभाजन को स्पष्ट स्वीकारते हैं, जब कि ऊपरी तौर पर कहा जाता है कि मुसलमानों में कोई जाति विभाजन नहीं है।
 
फ़ैज़ी पसमांदा के खिलाफ होने वाले जातिगत भेदभाव पर चर्चा करते है। पसमांदा मुस्लिम समाज में आदिवासी,दलित और पिछड़े वर्ग शामिल हैं। पसमांदा का शाब्दिक अर्थ है 'जो पीछे रह गया'। ये वे लोग हैं जिन्होंने पहले कभी इस्लाम क़बूल किया था। वे बाहर से नहीं आये थे बल्कि भारत के ही मूल निवासी थे। इस्लामी फिक्ह में वर्णित अजलाफ और अर्ज़ाल जातियां इनमें शामिल हैं। इसके आलावा वे पसमांदा पर होने वाले सामाजिक अत्याचार और भेदभाव पर चर्चा करते हैं।

There is a prevalent myth that casteism exists only in Hinduism. Virtually all the Muslim representation on various platforms of the government and society are exclusively dominated by the Ashraaf Muslims (lit. pl. of ‘shareef’ means superior, civilized), who are the foreign origin upper caste people among the Muslims. Besides, The Muslim personal law board’s publication on Islamic customs and law (Majmooa-e-Qanoon-e-Islami(Compendium of Islamic Laws) only allows marriage between Muslims of equal castes (Kufu), thus accepting the existence of caste division within the Muslim community. But on the surface, it is still believed that there is no caste division among the Muslims.
 
Fyzie speaks of the extreme discrimination against Pasmanda who are the Tribals, Dalits and the OBC among Muslims. They are the people who converted to Islam at some stage. They were native Indians unlike the Ashraaf who had come from outside. The Ajlaaf and Arzaal castes mentioned in Islamic Fiqh all fall under Pasmanda. The speaker further contrasts the destitute condition of the Pasmanda with the privileged Ashraaf who have usurped all the benefits and representation offered to the minority community.

फ़ैयाज अहमद फैज़ी पेशे से चिकित्सक हैं  व् लेखनी के माध्यम से, वार्ता के माध्यम से अपनी बात उठा रहे हैं, अनुवादक, एवं सामाजिक कार्यकर्ता हैं। पिछले कई वर्षों से देश के सबसे वंचित समाज पसमांदा के उत्पीड़न एवं अधिकार की बात को लेख, वीडियो वार्तालाप आदि के माध्यम से विभिन्न मंचों से उठा रहें हैं।
इनका कहना है कि “हमारा संघर्ष अशराफ के खिलाफ नहीं बल्कि अशराफवादी (इब्लिसवादी ) विचारधारा के विरुद्ध है।“

Faiyaz Ahamad Fyzie, a doctor by profession, is also an author, translator, and a social activist. For the past several years, he has been raising the issue of oppression and the rights of the most deprived society of the country i.e the Pasmanda Muslims, through his articles and talks.
‘Our struggle is not against the Ashraaf, but the Ashrafist (Iblis) ideology’, says he.

इस्लाम में जातिवाद, कट्टरपंथी अशराफ़ का वर्चस्व व्  पसमांदा प्रतिरोध? | फ़ैयाज अहमद फैज़ी

Shastras play a central role in Hindu tradition and society. However, due to the effects of colonialism, Hindus have become deracinated and have lost touch with this core of their civilization. The deracination is so deep that while detractors of Hinduism with ideological agendas continue to use Hindu Shastras, especially texts in the Dharmashastra tradition like Manusmriti as a tool to undermine Hinduism, the response from the Hindu side has been clumsy, disoriented, and one that involves denouncement of our Shastras as not relevant and outdated. This talk seeks to rectify this prevalent confusion and misconception among the Hindus through a presentation of the true role of texts like Manu and other Smritis as a Pramana-Shastra.

A Civil Engineer by profession, Nithin is a passionate writer, Chief Curator - Advaita Academy and Consulting Editor - Indic Today Magazine. He has authoured books on various aspects of Hindu philosophy, society and ethics including one on the notions and practices surrounding menstruation.

भारत की लगभग सभी वर्तमान समस्याओं पर वीर सावस्कर की भवियष्यवाणी सच हो गई है। उनकी सबसे आश्चर्यजनक भविष्यवाणी -  सन् 1954 में भारत पर 1962 के चीनी आक्रमण की भविष्यवाणी की थी। वे पहले व्यक्ति थे जिन्होनें उत्तर-पूर्व में भारत की सुरक्षा को खतरे के बारे में चेतावनी दी थी।

वक्ता-
प्रो. अशोक मोदक एक भारतीय नागरिक हैं जिनका जन्म 1940 में मुंबई में हुआ था। उन्होंने अपना मास्टर ऑफ आर्ट्स (M.A) पहले अर्थशास्त्र (1963) और बाद में पुणे विश्वविद्यालय से राजनीति विज्ञान (1967) में किया। उन्होंने 1980 में जवाहरलाल नेहरू विश्वविद्यालय, नई दिल्ली से डॉक्टरेट (पीएचडी) प्राप्त की। उनका डॉक्टरेट का विषय "सोवियत इकोनॉमिक एड टू इंडिया" था। शिक्षा के क्षेत्र में उनके योगदान को मान्यता देते हुए, भारत सरकार ने उन्हें 6 वर्षों के लिए 6 जनवरी 2015 को राष्ट्रीय अनुसंधान प्रोफेसर के पद के लिए नामांकित किया

About the Speaker:

Col Rama, during his service of 33 years in the Indian Army, has traveled and served in many parts of India. He has participated in the wars of  1965 as well as  in1971. Since his retirement from the Indian army, he has been engaged in social activism and mentoring underprivileged children of migrants in the national capital.
They say one is never too old to set a new academic goal. Col Rama completed the Masters's program in Political Science at the age of 75, which he says, combined with his defense background has broadened his perspectives, enhanced clarity, and a better understanding of national politics and international relations.

The present generation is hardly aware of our glorious heritage and there is a need to rewrite history books so as to change one sided narratives. According to the speaker, Manoshi Sinha, the period from 8th to 18th century is blanked out completely from our history books. The stories of our resistance against Islamic invaders is hardly mentioned.  In this talk Manoshi Sinha mentions various instances when the Hindus had provided resistance and won major battles.

Devi Draupadi: The Exemplar of Eternal Vedic Liberalism and Gender Parity | Neera Misra

अगर भारत के 80% नागरिक मुसलमान हो जायें तो क्या भारत बचेगा? इसका सीधा जवाब यह है किअगर ऐसा होता है तो पाकिस्तान व भारत में कोई अंतरनहीं रह जाएगा. परंतु अपने आप को बुद्धि-ज़ीवी कहने वाले लोग कहते है कि 'भारत के 100% मुस्लिम या इसाई हो जाने से क्या फ़र्क पढ़ता है'? वह कहते है की यह पूर्णतःभारत के संविधान के अनुरूप है. हिंदू धर्म, भारत की सभ्यता व भारत के आध्यात्मिक दर्शन की निरन्तरता बनाए रखना हर हिंदू का पहला धर्म है. शंकर शरण जी का यह लेक्चर इन्ही सब बिंदुओं पर दृष्टि डालता है.

Dr. Sharan insists that to retain our culture and sanskriti we need to be vigilant towards our Hinduism. He asks rhetorically, if 80% of Indians turn Muslims will Bharat and Bharatiyata survive? The only answer to this question is in that case Bharat will become just like Pakistan. There will be no difference between the two. But unfortunately the so called pseudo-intellectuals think that it won't matter much even if 100 % population is Muslim or Christian. They propagate that it is well within their constitutional rights. But Bharat can only retain its deep essence by retaining Hinduism which is the core of Bharatiya Sanskriti. It is the prime duty of every Hindu to keep practicing their ancient religion and culture in its pure form and understand the depth of Hindu philosophy.
That will be the only way to survive as Bharat.

Dr. Sharan is a Hindi writer and educationist, currently Professor of Political Science. He is an expert of Soviet Marxist Philosophy and its applications. He has earned much fame by writing many books on Communism, Marxist theory, Secularism, Islamic terrorism, Gandhian Philosophy and Comparative study of Religions from the point of view of Hinduism.

While there are more than 130 attempts to date Mahabharata and more than dozen attempts to date Ramayana, all of them have lead to different proposals based on, supposedly, same set of evidences from these epics. This causes lot of confusion and makes ordinary individuals wonder if they can trust either these researchers or the evidence, or both! 

The problem is not in the evidence, but rather of irrational and subjective methods employed by most researchers. Nilesh will demonstrate a scientific framework for conducting new research or analyzing existing research, and how this simple framework can be used by anyone to determine the quality of any research work or claim.

Besides presenting specific dates for instances of Mahabharata & Ramayana, Nilesh will convincingly demonstrate, with the help of specific astronomy evidence, why Mahabharata war did not happen anytime after 4500 BCE and why Ramayana did not happen anytime after 10,000 BCE.

Nilesh Nilkanth Oak is the author of 'When did the Mahabharata war happen?: The Mystery of  Arundhati' and 'The Historic Rama: Indian civilization at the end of Pleistocene'.                                  

He freshly evaluated astronomy observations of Mahabharata text, which led to validation of 5561 BCE as the year of Mahabharata War while falsifying more than 120 alternate claims.

The obdurate opposition displayed by the elitists in refusing to accept the fact that imposition of an alien English language in Indian higher education has resulted in creating anglicized zombies instead of world leaders in science & technology.  Whereas, Japan has produced 10 Nobel Laureates in science and medicine in the past 10 years while studying in their mother tongue, so also China is competing with the US to be a world leader in AI Technology using Mandarin. Isn't it time for us in India to introduce revolutionary reforms to make education available at all levels in regional languages and unleash our true potential to become a Vishwaguru once again?     

Sankrant Sanu has extensively researched on making quality and effective education in the field of science and technology accessible for all children in India by making a paradigm shift of offering higher education at all levels in science, engineering, technology, medicine, etc in regional languages in addition to the currently available English medium education. Sankrant Sanu has authored a book recently titled, "Angrezi Medium Ka Bhramjaal" which can be translated in English as the “English Medium Myth” , wherein he has given exhaustive data revealing the fact that English language is used by a minuscule minority of 5% population across the  world of which India is perhaps the largest contributor, as opposed to the notion of it being a popular ‘global lingua franca’ dominating the field of science and technology.

From the UNESCO Report of 1953 onward, there are multiple studies across the world which demonstrates that children learn best in their mother tongue. So, the medium of instruction needs to be their mother tongue to enhance their learning capabilities and arrest dropout rates. 

Sankrant Sanu in this extremely informative and fact based Talk lists out many such facts and shocking revelations on this issue along with giving policy suggestions to catapult India into a hub for scientific research, software development and a nation of major innovators rather than the current status of being a nation which largely provides menial services in the field of technology like BPO solutions, etc.

Are we free or are we bound by the perceptions of the world influenced by Western culture? Have we forgotten the education, language and moral values of our ancestors? We have lost our roots. We have to return and revive 'Vedic India'. This lecture deals with inter-caste relationships, changes in hierarchies of different castes over time, and analysis of the rights of varnas.
 
The basic meaning of the ‘varn’ implies the act of choosing, or what to choose. A person's ‘varna’ can be determined on the basis of his or her abilities, desires, interests etc. 
The Varna system has its origin in the Vedas and applies to all members of society. But in modern times, this concept has taken very complex and controversial connotations. 
Actually no one uses the word ‘varna’ anymore. The word popularly used for a classification now is, ‘jaati’ or caste. 
The basic meaning of jaati is to make a classification on the basis of one or several parameters. The examples can be – the human race, female race, animal race etc.
But as the meaning of words changes over time, the meaning of the word jaati has also changed in modern society. Nowadays it implies a caste, such as Brahmin caste, Rajput caste etc.
 
In this talk, Mohit Bhardwaj tries to redress the negative opinions about society varna and jaati.
What was the purpose of this system? What is the role of the four 'varnas' in modern society? What are the usual perceptions about the various castes?
The speaker addresses these questions and clarifies many of the misconceptions about jaati and varnas in modern society.

The gurukul system of education has been in existence since ancient times.
A gurukula was a type of education system in ancient India with shishya('students' or 'disciples') living near or with the guru, in the same house.

The Upanishads mention multiple gurukulam, including that of guru Drona at Gurgaon
In a gurukula, the students living together are considered as equals, irrespective of their social standing.They learn from the guru and help the guru in his everyday life, including carrying out of mundane daily household chores , a guru does not receive or accept any fees from the shishya studying with him as the relationship between a guru and the shishya is considered very sacred.
