When reviewing Adam Port’s musical merits at this point in time, it shows that most of it took shape off the beaten path. Be it the conditions that sparked his DJ-career. Be it his approach of DJing itself or be it his artistic progression, manifested in his productions.Over the last years, Adam landed a string of much noticed releases on different labels, be it on Keinemusik, his Berlin-based label-mainstay and collective of fellow artists &ME, Rampa, Reznik and designer Monja Gentschow. Or be it on imprints like Freerange, Pets, Cocoon, Moon Harbour etc. It’s been tunes that immediately brought worldwide attention to his name. But then, instead of doing the obvious, getting a management, meeting demands, playing those big stages, delivering the hits, Adam once again did what felt best for him. Maintaining artistic integrity, releasing records that reflect where his love for music is at in one moment, not knowing where it might be on the very next release, and keeping DJ-sets not only interesting for a crowd, but also himself.That’s where he is at right now. There’s no scene-dictated tunnel view in his activities, there is only a pointed emphasis on style, on groove and sophistication. An emphasis, that, because it’s informed by Dub, Danchall, Rap, Soul or even Psychedelic Rock, is advanced enough to always shine through the inflationary characteristic of the genre as notably original.

"The goal of this mix was to straddle the line between a few different sounds I’m really vibing on right now. We start things off with some haunting melodic house and transition through some indie dance and ultimately land with some peak-time bangers that have been sure bets for me this summer.

I have always been a firm believer in the power of spoken word samples from across the world to elevate house music into a more cerebral place. I have also included a collection of vocal records that tug at the heartstrings and, I hope, pull you into goosebump territory. Great songwriting in any genre is impressive, but I hold a special place in my heart for those producers and vocalists who can bring everything together in an underground record that can also work with a broader audience.

The last time I did an Electronic Groove Podcast was nearly a decade ago! Big thanks to the EG team for their continuing hard work to shine a spotlight on the various elements that make this music and culture special.

On a more somber note, please keep an eye on friends and family that may have gone quiet over the last few weeks or months. Everyone’s dealing with some level of depression, anxiety, and burnout due to the pandemic and the state of our world right now, so try to do your part to help those that may be struggling know that you’re there and feel less alone. Ein Gelehrter antwortete einmal auf die Frage “Wie viele Sterne es gäbe?“ mit „Es gibt mehr Sterne im Universum als Sandkörner auf der Erde.“ Nun kann man behaupten, der Mann habe es sich nur einfach gemacht oder man kann seine Genialität anerkennen. Denn dieser Satz gibt uns eine bessere Vorstellung von der Unendlichkeit des Alls als die geschätzte Anzahl von 70 Trilliarden (eine 7 mit 22 Nullen) Sternen. Es gibt also eine Menge zu entdecken und der Satz „Man sieht sich immer zwei Mal im Leben“ wäre im Weltall blanker Hohn. Wer auszieht in das unendliche Schwarz, verschreibt sich wohl auf ewig der Einsamkeit.
Doch was immer bleibt ist die Musik. Die Musik in unserem Kopf. Lasst eure Gedanken von Lars Moston mit neuen Melodien füllen die euch durch den Alltag tragen und die ihr summen könnt, wenn um euch herum sonst nichts ist außer den Sternen.
Der Berliner bespielt schon seit Jahren die größten Bühnen und Festivals Europas. Currently residing in the North East, UK, Rory has been DJing for over 20 years. His early influences were the U.S. west coast House scene, in particular the early Naked Music vibe, Dubtribe Sound System, Miguel Migs, Rasoul, Andy Caldwell, JT Donaldson & Lance Desardi. 

More of Rory’s influences include the likes of Calum Walker, Brendan Costigane, Jimpster, Charles Webster, Vincenzo, DJ Ino, Seph, Steven Garcia, Schmoov and Crazy P....you can see it’s an eclectic bag. 

This distinctive sound and its influence is obvious when you hear Rory work a crowd in that individual and unique way that he has made his own by giving you that characteristic Cochrane deep house therapy. 

Rory has performed at some of the North East UK’s most prestigious and loved venues over the years, joints such as Stereo Bar, Tokyo Bar, To The Manor Born, The Loveboat, The Purple Onion, Cosmic Ballroom, Distrikt Bar & The Faversham down in Leeds to name a few.

His passion for Deep House music makes his sound very current. Rory is now running quality labels such as Deep Site Digital & Deep Site Vinylized along with Croatian DJ/producer and good friend Tom Krizic (DJ Funtom). Rory is also working on some interesting production projects of his own, which have meant remixes and a sweet original track with vocalist Sanna Hartfield 'Focus' on Addex’ label Limitation Music. Other remixes also on labels Oh! Stockholm, Deep Stitched..South Africa, The Purr Music, Sound Vessel Records, Be Adult Music, Personal Belongings, UM Records as well as Deep Site

Over the last few years he has played internationally in Croatia, South Africa, Ibiza, Prague and Sao Paulo, Brazil where Rory performed at world famous club 'D-Edge' club  for FREAK CHIC...and more recently back from Barcelona where he performed at the legendary Puro Beach and Tulum Mexico, where he opened Lost Tribes @ Vagalume as well as warming the dance floor for international artist ‘Los Cabra' @ Aguva Rooftop.

DHTM Mix Series 042 - Rory Cochrane

Sanio & Zarth is an alias for DJ’s and producers Leo & Erhan. The duo got to know each other in Nuremberg, Germany, where both of them went to study engineering. Leo was born and raised in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and is half german. Erhan, on the other hand, was born and raised in Germany and has turkish parents. The interest in electronic music was mutual and so intense that they soon decided to become roommates and make music every spare time they had. The different origins have a great influence in their mixes, as well as in their productions, and through that they try to tell their story and touch peoples hearts, souls and bodies.
