After a string of acclaimed releases on Token and a selection of remixes, Ø [Phase] released his debut album 'Frames Of Reference' on Token last fall. Timmo’s debut Drumcode release ‘We Beat On’ carries a flow through out that gives Timmo his own unique sound that has captured the ears of many highly revered techno DJ’s around the world. Timmo uses hypnotic sounds and phrases whilst he always maintains a thumping techno beat that underlies all the tracks within this EP to maximum effect. Furthermore, there is a ghostly feel amongst Timmo’s tracks that really provide him with his acquired sound, the pads in ‘Canvas’ are a beautiful reminder of this. Timmo also uses strong synth stabs to full effect that juxtapose against the drums to help create the tension and aggression that is present within techno.

The title track is a beat-heavy production, with a very special vibe to it. The mid-way cut is composed of a mindblowing voice effect and craftily reverberating samples to give way to a powerful finale! 

The Drifter’s thumping rhythm and electrifying bassline definitely gives you an idea of what’s yet to come: a relentless, unstoppable theme full of haunting sounds and samples that will further lighten up the majestic of this season!

This set was recorded on my first trip to South Africa, where I performed at a festival and a free show in Soweto alongside local artists Vinny da Vinci , Dj Fresh, Euphonik, Culoe de Song and LSG. All tour dates were partnered with non-profit organisation Bridges for Music. The aim was to use music to break down socio-economic boundaries bringing people from different communities together .
