Strangely, the second I went to the save point at Toriel's house, the game went to a cutscene of Toriel suddenly stopping me from entering her home. She describes that monsters have been going around telling her what I've been doing, and instead of elaborating I was just sent straight to this fight.
Surprisingly, rather than ending like the original Toriel fight with her being one shot, she seems to be a lot stronger.

Seems like Sans just attacks you out of the blue here after Toriel dissapears. I've also noticed if you stay idle for too long, Sans speaks regardless of whether you fight or not.

Right after the interaction with Papyrus, and right after I tried leaving the room, Sans interrupted me and threatened me. Before doing so, he played a little animation in which he put his hood on, then the fog got thicker and when it went back to normal he was gone. This is WEIRD.

In the area with the tile puzzle designed by Alphys, I encountered Papyrus trying to get the suspiciously Mettaton-looking machine to work. The area was hard to navigate as a lot of it seemed unfinished and corrupted. During the cutscene where Papyrus attempts to activate the machine, It suddenly sprouted into this and attacked.
