Cynnic is a Melbourne based DJ, a recent import from New Zealand, where he was often found lurking behind the decks in grimey bars and raves around the city. Years of setting up sound systems at gigs, running cables and a stint in a corporate job has left him more cynical than ever and his need to unleash on the decks is palpable.

It becomes obvious when you hear him play, that he draws inspiration from his love of sound and a background in music production. Always on the hunt for that sound, groove or tone.

A firm believer in underground purism and a proud ambassador for the techno genre, with a style that is intelligent, energetic and driving. A sound that's been brewed and distilled over the years. Played out and bunker parties, underground raves, KandiLand 2022, Newtown Festival 2023 and club nights at Laundry Bar, Love not Lost, Red Square and Shed 6.

His passion for techno seeps through his pores. Cynnic is constantly adapting, evolving and assimilating.

We're a studio based in Christchurch NZ that specializes in doing Single, EP and Album recordings, for both aspiring and experienced musicians. 

We also offer some session musician services, and well as production assistance and use/hire of our equipment.

Our rates are typically $60NZD per hour, depending on whether we're recording, producing, mixing or mastering your music.

Through sheer force of will and stubborn determination, Setting Fire To Stacey have risen from the rubble of Christchurch with a sound that combines strong songwriting and a powerful vocalist with brutal down-tuned riffs to devastating effect.  Their brand of driving hard rock brings to mind influences such as Tool, System of a Down, Chevelle and Cancer Bats, with a sound that is altogether unique and instantly memorable. With a loyal and ever-growing following in Christchurch, SFTS are now set to conquer the local airwaves.
Setting Fire To Stacey is Arend Hoek (vocals), Mark Hunter (lead guitar), Zakk Rickard (rhythm guitar), Hamish Collison (bass) and Ross Greig (drums).

Black River Drive's new album QUICKSAND was produced by Toby Wright in Nashville, had additional guitars tracked by Zorran Mendonsa in Auckland, mixing by Forrester Savell in Melbourne and mastering by Jens Borgen Fascination Street in Sweden.
This international effort has added up to one of NZ's biggest rock albums of 2014.
Black River Drive's new album sees the band return with riffs to burn and a massive evolution in their sound, which can be summed up as 'modern rock with a rock and roll heart'.  
The band drew inspiration for the album from iconic rock artists including Nine Inch Nails, AC/DC, Tool, Alice in Chains, Led Zeppelin and Metallica's seminal Black Album.
The album was recorded over two months in Nashville, Tennessee with US hard rock and metal producer Toby Wright, the man behind albums by the likes of Alice in Chains, Metallica, Slayer, Sevendust and Ozzy Osbourne. It was funded through a $20k crowd funding campaign and received government funding from NZOA.  The album was mixed by Australian rock producer/engineer Forrester Savell (I Am Giant, Karnivool, Dead Letter Circus) and mastered at Fascination Street in Sweden.  

BRD songwriter and frontman Sam Browne : 'Four years is a long time in the life of a band, but we had a lot to learn.  This time around, you can hear so much more of who we are as musicians and where we've come from.  The personalities in the band come through in every song.  Every piece fits together.  From the outset, we had a clear vision and plan for what we wanted the songs and the album to be, and we stuck closely to that plan.  Having people like Toby, Forrester and Jens work on the songs has meant this album has become everything we had hoped for.'

Their new album is scheduled for release on November 7th, 2014.  The band will be touring nationwide to promote the album throughout November.
