On the shores of the Mediterranean, the fishermen have very little left to catch now...

The Nets
Dozing on my chair,
Often without company,
Nothing to do, for here I am
A prisoner of the narrow lanes.
From afar, the sea still looks beautiful,
But the wind, the crossings are gone.
Everything’s shrunk and packed away,
No nets left to cast 

In front of my door,
I am so old,
This cruel port bores me,
Its empty boats too.
I’ve lost my appetite,
I watch the cats go by,
As skinny as I am.

Anchors and nets
For decoration,
Dry, frayed ropes,
The scent of the sea has vanished.
I’ve lost my friends,
I watch the men go by,
As dark as I am.
Dozing on my chair,
Often without company,
Nothing to do, for here I am,
