After Huerco S's lo-fi house and a classic cut from Parris Mitchell, we are happy to present our third physical release. That Girl, produced by our recent discovery Innershades, and halved with two remixes of our most recent idols. While the EP received massive dj support, it may sound so familiar for another reason: again, it further explores the territories of modern house music while paying obvious homage to the past. 

At a first glance, you might mistake That Girl for some unfinished business. Opening with a repeated voice sample, rare toms and a nostalgic pad, this epic beatless intro builds up like a 1980's spaghetti western soundtrack just to drop one minute later into one of the rawest hard hitting house tracks you'll see around in a while. But don't be too quick to make judgments: the abundance of sonic elements in this tune sounds very refreshing in the era of looped house and techno — and those ruthless ravey keys add up oh so well to the picture.

Further down the road, Hotflush Recording's favorite Locked Groove gives the original a pulsing acidic twist halved with his signature top-class house production skills. This unobvious deviation from the trancey samples you would hear on his latest releases is, though, very welcome: a slightly misogynistically titled "She's A Hoe" remix just sticks in your head for a while.

As if that isn't enough, the B-side is represented by a simple-yet-effective remix from Ukraine's very own Vakula who provides what seems a purist power techno edit right up to the point when the killer snare comes in. What follows is a little flanger play on one of the original's secondary melodies which emphasizes it, thus changing the perception of the cut almost completely. Strictly for club use only.

Santa Cata Records was conceived in the record store, Santa Cata in Palma de Mallorca.
Founded 5 years ago it has become a hub for local artists, an essential digging spot for visiting DJs, as well as being open to all music lovers.
With the vibrant local scene producing so actively, setting up a label was a natural step for us, providing a platform for the artists living on our beloved island.
