recessions xxi was recorded from June to December 2021 on and off as an unintentional side project. creating ambient music serves a plethora of purposes for me, from a creative outlet to just helping feeling grounded with something to focus on during tumultuous times. i don't have hopes for this collection to bring anyone anything, as it isn't anything. formless. repetitive. secluded. music doesn't have to amount to something beyond existing.

some technical didgeridoo: every track was recorded straight to tape from my modular synthesizer, featuring excessive use of digital sound sources and analog compressors and mixers to get a little something something. some call it juju, some call it mojo, for me it has something to do with headroom that makes the precision cut digital sound sparkle and glitter in a musical way.

morphagene playing variable size smears of a recording, some gentle bells made with self-oscillating delay pinged through a low pass gate. everything through some tasty reverb.

abstract generative rhythm made with a wavetable oscillator processed beyond recognition.

endless drone of synthesized strings, carrying to far out places. you are welcome to drift along if you like. all sounds originating and processed by novation summit. no other sources or processing used at all.

two crushingly slow generative arpeggios drift along and crash in the stereoscape. resulting in a temporal misalignment of the space-time-continuum and the accelerated heat death of the universe.
