Sunshine in the Rain

Some strange sounds from the Australian rainforest! The unique calls of Wompoo Fruit Doves, Spotted Catbirds and the sharp 'whipcracks' of Eastern Whipbirds make for an unusual soundscape. Recorded in Girringun National Park in far north Queensland. 

Other bird species heard on this track include Yellow-breasted Boatbill, Superb Fruit Dove, Grey-headed Robin & Lewin's Honeyeater.

This is the first time I played broken beat music at an open dance floor. 

Almost a year ago at Burning Man I’ve suddenly opened up to broken beat dance music at Opulent Temple performances by Seven Lions, Keith MacKenzie, Dulce Vita, others. It makes me feel so alive. I feel it subdues my mind, brings me totally to here and now, and just makes my body move. It’s literally impossible to just listen to this music - it screams dance! 

So I wanted to share this. But on the other hand, it was very different to what my people and the festival crowd like and I thought expected. And I have a nice set of other music which they would love. For me it was a choice between doing something I felt genuine for me, and doing something great for others. I usually choose the latter. 

But at this time, I’ve chose to play the music I love, even though it was divergent. And it turned out to be a great dance for everyone.

All the sounds, except flute, are created with the natural elements we incurred in this wild location: stones, wood, branches and leaves of different trees.

Sanyat Sattar, a Bangladeshi artist with a global journey, has lived in Finland, Bangladesh, Japan, and the USA, shaping his diverse musical palate. His musical training began at the Conservatorium in Jyväskylä, Finland, followed by studies at music academies in Finland and Bangladesh. Proficient in violin and piano-accordion, Sanyat draws inspiration from Scandinavian Schlager and Japanese Enka, seamlessly blending Eastern and Western influences through EDM, Electropop, and Techno-house styles. Fluent in five languages, Sanyat is also an English literature professor at a university in Bangladesh.
