One of my favourite tracks ever, I recorded this version as a homage to the original. I was very careful in trying not to recreate the ELO version, as no cover version could ever surpass it. This is a different, acoustic take on a true masterpiece.

Take Me [Extended Version] - Samory I [BBC 1Extra Special]

This is a musical memorial to the Birmingham Pub Bombings of November 1974 in which twenty one people died. Written by Brummies Phil Hatton and Dave Scott-Morgan, '21 Today' is released in conjunction with the commemorative concert at Birmingham Town Hall, 20 November 2014. Musicians are Dave Scott-Morgan, Alan Pianosmith, Tony Kelsey and Martin Smith.

Retouch Edit for the “Red Hot Moon” Ska Punk anthem by Tim Armstrong and Rancid. The original song is not changed at all, because it is “Indestructible”,  as its 2003 album name suggests. Original song was produced by Brett Gurewitz of Bad Religion). In the remix I did some gentle widening and respectful highlights for the song. Added very few beats and hats and lotsa subtle deep bass. 

Tempo is locked to much slower 150Bpm. So it should be perfect for the slow Pogo dance perhaps?!?! ... or for this awesome, romantic SKA dancing like in the original, at 1:43 ?!?!  : D

The take on mixing one of my favorite Rancid songs was to celebrate Red Moon celestial even in Oct, 2015. The Red Hot Moon is eclipsed by Mini Moog rework only. Three Moog synth lines added to expand the lower domain. All done in Live9 with MiniMoog by Arturia. More explicit words are scrambled in case you take kids to the “grave yard tonight” to observe the Red Hot Moon event : ) 

The artwork is actual phot of the Red Super Moon I did from our backyard, as it’s was viewed those days from “Cali, California….”   : ) Canon Rebel T4i, w/o editing. No idea where the blue-ish glare is coming from, probably from the Moog button highlight?!?  : )

Rancid - Red Hot Moon (Retouch Hot Moog Edit by Sam PROCK)

An unreleased track recorded in 1983 discovered in a dusty corner of the On-U tape archives. Taken from SCIENCE FICTION DANCEHALL CLASSICS, a curated selection of classics, rarities and unreleased tracks from the On-U Sound vaults by DJ & Audio Visual artist Trevor Jackson.

In some ways predicting the electro-fied sound of Neneh’s worldwide pop success with the Raw Like Sushi album, “Dead Come Alive” stems from a mid-80s period when Adrian took a production hiatus from his beloved reggae, deeply upset by the murder of his friend Prince Far I (he would later rekindle the dub flame when the opportunity arose in 1986 to work with hero Lee “Scratch” Perry). Instead he explored the possibilities of new studio technology. Early samplers and drum machines were put through their paces on work for the Tommy Boy label and remixes for the likes of Depeche Mode.
