Work Samples

In the opening number of Wind-Up Girl, a living Francine Descartes introduces the audience to life with her father, world-famous philosopher, Rene Descartes. Together, they work to build a mechanical bird that will fly. By the end of the song, Francine has grown very ill, and Rene sits beside her bed making a small wind-up girl to entertain her in her last days.
