One more time, friends… allow me to introduce you to my 20th and final IMAGINARY RAVE TAPE which is now waiting for you on my Soundcloud. Why “final”? Well, it arrives exactly four years after the first one and I really like the conclusive feeling of round numbers. I think it has run its natural course and it feels like the initial idea - an idealized and concise imagination of the perfect rave born out of Covid lockdown frustration - reached a sweet conclusion. 

These mixes have been a personal tribute to the unifying power of the dancefloor - out of my bedroom into the world. I think I’ve said everything I wanted to say with these ones. I long for a more real and analogue connection with these dancefloors now so I think it’s nice to say farewell to the series for now. I’m really happy with this final chapter - 100 minutes of sweet Balearic beats and trippy, tropical floorfillers from the past and present. Follow the Bio link to get to it…

Danish producer @kasperbjorke is what I would consider a true good guy on multiple levels. Not only is he one of the finest DJs around, he’s also dropping great and surprising releases on a regular basis for almost two decades now, he’s also a vocal artist when it comes to political topics. Especially environmental topics and the health of our dear planet is as equally close to Kasper’s heart as it is to mine. I consider him a brother in spirit when it comes to these things… well, and our mutual love for Balearic beats. So, obviously… I’m thrilled that he participated in my little mixtape project. His “Messy Mix” was inspired by (and compiled during) a recent train ride between Berlin and Copenhagen since Mr. Bjørke’s avoids flying as often as he can. The result is a soothing and wonderful listening experience. 

Here’s how he describes his approach:

“I always feel at my best when I am accompanied by music, in almost anything that I do. I lean on music to contemplate, to work and to dream, when cooking or cleaning, playing with my children - or when traveling, gazing through the window of a train moving through the constant changing landscapes. Mixtapes can come in handy in many occasions and have been a thing I have practiced since my teenage years. I got in the mood for making this particular mixtape during a train journey going back home from Berlin to Copenhagen, after a weekend with two club gigs. 

Going home after gigs often makes me listen to quite soothing tracks that can act as a comforting mental pillow, after days of being around new people, loud music and a disrupted sleeping pattern. There are some beats in there too to bring the journey forward too and the mix include tracks are some of my favorites, some are new and some that have stayed with me over the years… I have also added one track from my latest album Puzzles, which came out a few weeks ago. I suggest you put on this mixtape when you are going on your next journey. May it be inwards or somewhere physically.”

Apart from that, I think it also works great as a relaxing mix to welcome the spring season so you don’t necessarily need to be on a train to enjoy this sweet selection. Hermanos Inglesos are releasing a brand new version of ‘Wanderland’ featuring the enchanting voice of Lara Chedraoui, lead singer of Belgian cult indie band ‘Intergalactic Lovers’. The new version is backed by a remix by Greek disco god NTEIBINT: "Wanderland feels like an 80s hit song you already knew and loved. So my disco remix came out naturally, more like Prince doing Scandinavian disco. Drums, bass and Lara's silky vocals on top."
The music of 'Wanderland' takes you back to that lovely time of carefree fun, whether it was during the children's disco, at school camp or somewhere else. Wanderland is co-produced by Bert Libeert of GOOSE and the artwork is made by Max Drekker.

For over 100 years, the steel industry has been part of the visual and sonic scenery of Esch-sur-Alzette and of the Luxembourg and Lorraine mining basin in general. Noise and a nuisance for some, soundtrack of a part of their life for others, the wailing of the overhead cranes and the roar of the working metal devices fill the night with their melancholic, sometimes threatening but always subtle presence. Children are lulled to sleep by these background sounds, while for others the distant humming and moans of the factories have become the companion of their long nights of toil or sleepless wandering…

The Nightsongs project takes this nocturnal soundscape and industrial atmosphere as a starting point for a series of electronic music compositions exploring the different facets and activities of the night and their poetic dimension. Using the technique of field-recording, the sounds and sonic footprint of industrial sites in operation (ArcelorMittal Belval) and at standstill (Metzeschmelz & FerroForum in Esch-Schifflange) from the south of Luxembourg have been recorded, sound mapped and edited to build a library of sounds and samples ready to be used. Musicians and electronic producers from Luxembourg, France and the UK then took over the sounds to compose and produce music according to specific topics and themes, all related to a poetic aspect of the night. The result is a sound creation composed of collages, music pieces, texts and soundscapes that invite the listener to a nocturnal time travel.

Beyond the musical dimension, the project also aims to preserve and archive a part of the sound identity of a region, thus allowing future generations to “hear and listen” to the industrial past of Esch-sur-Alzette.
