We are back with our 8th artist who’s ready to give you some fast-paced, hard hitting techno straight from our very own capital city Brussels - of course we're talking about the young Jan Vercauteren. 

Vercauteren has been coming up really fast in the international techno scene with his tracks being played by the likes of SPFDJ, AnD, and Regal to name a few - which helps explain his quickly growing career. When he’s behind the decks, Vercauteren usually starts his sets at 145 BPM minimum and likes to take it up from there, known for saturated kicks and warped acid lines destined for warehouses and large-capacity parties.

Next up for the podcast series we have Exil Der Schatten for you who made a 1hour mix.

Munich based artist who shares his passion for hard, fast and groovy techno. The pseudonym was founded
in early 2020 and specializes in a harder, hypnotic vibe, as well as the production of ambient soundscapes.

His style is best described by the combination of raw drum patterns, dystopian synths and the influence of EBM.
Artists like DaxJ, SNTS or Klangkuenstler have a significant influence on his productions.

To make his dj sets energetic and interesting he always incorporates different styles and music genres. As
a basis serves solid Hardtechno with gloomy grooves, which is then refined with influences of Cyber Goth or
darker HardTrance. Also often heard are tracks from the field of darkwave, which offer a fitting contrast and yet a
familiar vibe.

He has already released some strong tracks on renowned labels like OUTWORLD, COUP, Dusk Records,
Falsive, 01010100 and many more. He is also a resident at Dusk Records and the event series Syndikat.

We’re back! Welcome to this next instalment of the HER 他 Transmission Mix Series, our ongoing mix series showcasing amazing artists from around the world. For the 113th edition, we bring you a mix from Naarm/Melbourne-born, NYC-based DJ and vocalist, Monique Tya.

Monique Tya approaches their work with an affinity for melodic sounds and left-of-field textures. Weaving between bass, techno, IDM, acid and everything in between, Monique Tya’s sets do away with boxes and take you through an unbinding plethora of late-night dance fuel. 

Her ever-shifting scope of sound is informed by her work as a booking agent, radio host on Skylab and Hope St Radio and a growing resume of vocal work for a number of producers and bands; performing at notable festivals such as Strawberry Fields and Hopkins Creek.   

With extensive experience both behind the scenes and on the stage, Monique Tya is well and truly establishing herself as a key player in the local scene and beyond.

Creating this mix especially for the HER他  transmission series, it is an absolute honour to host them and hope that you all get a kick out of this mix.

The Erbil born Amsterdam-based artist, Sarkawt Hamad is joining us for Tapes #120. Between the binaries of darker moods and bliss energies, her sound is unmistakable. 

Growing up in the Netherlands, Sarkawt finds inspiration in all sorts of elements; from fascination for rock music, to dream-pop and her roots. Firmly entrenched in the Dutch underground scene, she translates this experience into a melodic flow behind the decks. Diverse in sources, her sets ebb effortlessly between genre - from breaks, to leftfield techno and house, all connected through a contagious energy. Sarkawt creates a space in which euphoria, more pensive states and deep soft noise can coexist.

What's the creative process and the message behind this mixtape?

The mix is inspired by shiny sundays and warm summer nights on my balcony; doing my selfcare ritual, having favorite food, good drinks, and listening to music. The sun’s reflection in the house gives another dimension to the whole experience, and these days often inspire me a lot, make me feel warm inside, and appreciate the things. Working on this mix with the summer in mind, I realized that I was trying to capture these sweet balcony days.

This is a long-overdue homage to one of the best house labels ever conceived. At only ten releases long, and almost entirely created by both The Timewriter and Terry Lee Brown Jr., Driftwood hit the mark every single time with some of the smoothest deep house around. 

It took me quite a while to complete the series, not to mention a good amount of money, but the hunt was worth every penny. I've owned the entire series for about six years now, but just now am finally getting around to compiling a mix of only driftwood tracks. 

Total respect goes to the Driftwood label, Jean F. Cochois AKA The Timewriter, Norman Feller AKA Terry Lee Brown Jr., Hakan Lidbo, Robi Uppin, and Jonathan Axelsson. Special thanks goes to my friend Travis Wolf for originally pointing this label out to me back in 2002 and for kicking off an obsessed passion for this Imprint.
