Frank Vincent Zappa (December 21, 1940 – December 4, 1993) was an American guitarist, composer, and bandleader. In a career spanning more than 30 years, Zappa composed rock, pop, jazz, jazz fusion, orchestral and musique concrète works; he also produced almost all of the 60-plus albums that he released with his band the Mothers of Invention and as a solo artist. His work is characterized by nonconformity, improvisation sound experimentation, musical virtuosity and satire of American culture. Zappa also directed feature-length films and music videos, and designed album covers. He is considered one of the most innovative and stylistically diverse musicians of his generation.

Here is the English translation of the poem:

There is no song of departure in the alley,
The lantern of friendship is not lit,
Don’t fear the attack of my presence,
I carry nothing but solitude with me.

When you're not here, I doubt myself,
I doubt every flower, every shade of light,
I doubt the tear of a dove, I doubt the dream of ashes,
Without you, I doubt nightmares and dreams alike.
I even doubt the flame, the butterfly.

Tonight, once again, there is no lantern lit,
There is no lamentation for the sorrow of this night.
I am not afraid of the walls, the dead ends, the shadows,
I am dark, dark, I am afraid of myself.
I am afraid of the shadows of the night without companionship,
I am afraid of being untrue.

From memory, from retreat, hope begins to stir. 
Gently, it awakens— a fragile flame in the quiet.
The motif of fate, destined to return again and again in the subsequent sections, is heard here : timid, tentative, solitary, spoken softly by solo piano. Around it, the orchestra lingers in the shadows, barely present, swaying with distant indifference— as if holding its breath.
This passage folds into a tangled duet—violin and piano caught in a fragile slow dance. A metaphor for the inner discord wrought by human solitude: each instrument circling the other, never quite touching, their melodies twisting like vines seeking light. Yet in the hush of final moments, they find each other at last— a tentative chord, shared, echoing the stillness from which they came. 
This section concludes the 2nd movement of the Symphony ("Memory of Retreat", Suite No. 8 - No.17).
The subsequent tracks will deal with the Beauty of Life, with the "Spell of Nature".
