Story Telling Time

I’m walking the streets
As the city sleeps
All curtains are closed
The blinds all down
No lights shining through any window

No one to be seen
No voices to be heard
As in a concrete desert
I’m Feeling unobserved

The wind taking it slow
Moon hiding it’s face behind a cloud
My footsteps echoing
Bouncing of the brick walls

A gentle drizzle shines the road
A quiet rain
A Doppler siren sings it song
Of troubles , far far away

Streetlights making an aisle
showing me the way
Though I walked this road many times
Knowing every crooked curb, every loose tile
I appreciate the gesture

Traffic lights still keeping control
Of things that aren’t there
The green man flashes happily
The orange light imitating the sunset
And even the bridges are vast asleep

A city sweeper passing by
His cart in a hurry
Heading where he is needed
Heading towards a tidy day

Across the street a drunk is making a fight
With gravity and himself
But give him the glory of a winner
And trust he’ll get home safe

Walking by this place
Where some sort a party is nearing it’s end
Lazy, late laughter of tired folks
Shreds of dancing music
But no more dancing shadows behind the window

The lush trees around the park lane
Give cover to the half boys, half men
Keeping their secret habits out of sight
Smoking, talking, alert yet calm
A quick look enough to see I’m no danger

The smell of rising bread
The steamy windows of the bakery
A promise for this upcoming day
At least there will be breakfast

A distant train
Pounding it’s wheels on the track
The rhythm of transit
The beat of big and small journey’s
There is always those who have to go somewhere

If I take it slow
I might hear the blackbird

Dilige, et quod vis fac

Based on the piano sheet music for Clemens Christian Poetzsch's Redux version of the song I did a guitar arrangement. 

I went with a double-tapping approach and Drop-A as tuning the get the lower registers as well. I used the Ibanez JSM-10 into the Bluguitar Amp1's clean channel into the BLuguitar Blubox, set on the Stack 1980. I used the Mooer A7 for reverb and the Boss DD-20 for delay, both in the FX-Loop of the Amp1

To add a bit more texture and colour I recorded three tracks of semi-improv/melody on my Vigier with slide.

AN ELECTRONIC VOICES ALBUM

"Metafonia" is the Italian word that identifies the phenomenon known in parapsychology as "electronic voices".

- Metafonia II, IV and V are the less edited tracks, in order to leave the spirit of improvisation unchanged. Ideally these three represent a second volume within the first volume.

Each piece was made starting from vocal samples recorded and processed in real time with a laptop (and with the addition of some synths). The only voice behind these pieces is mine (at least I think, and above all I hope, even if I can never be completely sure), recorded while I was improvising random phrases, as if I were my own medium.

I waited a long time before deciding to finish and release this series of songs, the gloomy atmosphere of this end of October 2020 made me realize that it was time to let them go.

- Metafonia II, IV e V sono le tracce meno editate, in modo da lasciare invariato lo spirito dell'improvvisazione. Idealmente queste tre rappresentano un secondo volume dentro il primo volume.

Ogni brano stato è realizzato a partire da campioni vocali registrati ed elaborati in tempo reale con un laptop (e con l'aggiunta di un po' di synth). L'unica voce alla base di questi brani è la mia (almeno credo, e soprattutto spero, anche se non potrò mai esserne del tutto certo), registrata mentre improvvisavo frasi casuali, come fossi il medium di me stesso.

Ho aspettato diverso tempo prima di decidere di terminare e pubblicare questa serie di brani, l'atmosfera cupa di questo fine di ottobre 2020 mi ha fatto capire che era arrivato il momento di lasciarli andare.
