Józef Flakus, also known as Somnolent Works, is a producer, DJ and music explorer based in Upper Silesia. He is passionate about breakbeat/jungle rhythms, old school electro, and techno music, often with robotic and strong elements. He loves to break conventions and explore new musical directions taken from different genres of music. The gritty and atmospheric landscape of factories, mines, and steelworks of his hometown region has had a significant impact on his music, particularly in its darker and more experimental elements. Somnolent Works sound often reflects the mechanical rhythms and metallic textures of the industrial world.

He is a regular member of the CEL club in Katowice, where he can be heard playing his eclectic selections from behind the decks. His latest releases include his debut EP titled "Surface Noise" which was self-released at the end of 2021. The EP showcases his distinctive style of noisy breakbeat rhythms, while also exploring new musical directions. In late 2022, he released the "Paperclip" single on the SKAN Records (@skan-rec) compilation, which further demonstrated his ability to craft intricate and immersive soundscapes within the electro genre. On March 23rd, 2023, he released another, four-track EP, called "Elephant On Drugs" on the POTOP Records (@potoprecords) in Katowice.

With the arrival of Oscar Sanchez, Meet Recordings proudly welcomes a newcomer who is anything but inexperienced. His debut single “Donkeyhead”, accompanied by “Forked Tongue” and “Yaco,” captures the unmistakable spirit of late-90s and early-2000s techno: raw, deep, rolling, and hardgroove-driven. From the first bar, “Donkeyhead” showcases Oscar’s signature touch: rugged drums, hypnotic momentum, and a timeless groove architecture that pays tribute to an era when techno was at its purest. “Forked Tongue” reinforces this direction with bold percussive tension, while “Yaco” brings a stripped yet infectious rhythm that DJs will immediately understand as peak-time material.

About Oscar Sanchez:

Oscar Sanchez has been immersed in electronic music since the early 2000s. At just 16, he began honing his craft on Akiyama turntables and stacks of vinyl, practicing tirelessly in his room while recording and replaying Loca FM’s legendary “Techno Culture” program on his Walkman. These formative years shaped his deep understanding of groove, momentum, and the physicality of techno.

Throughout his journey, Oscar has shared the booth with some of Spain’s most respected names—Cristian Varela, Cristian Wünsch, Nuke, Pelacha, Raúl Parra, among many others. He has performed at emblematic venues such as Family Club and Área 42, and appeared at festivals including Oasis Summer Festival, solidifying his reputation in the central Spanish scene.

Since moving into production in 2017, Oscar has released on an impressive list of labels including Unity Records, Kneaded Pains, Dolma, Crash, Transfiguration, WRD, Vezotonic, Plastic Toys, Beats HD, Black Square, Elektrax, Xelima, Diffuse Reality, and has built strong collaborations with Kneaded Pains, MEUK, 09Recordings, The Acid Mind, Say What? and Sway. His catalogue reflects versatility, precision, and a deep connection to the roots of techno.
