Jim wrote on his soundcloud:I wrote this song last year with Lillian Mareddy but her vocals weren't recorded properly, I couldn't sync them up correctly. So I remixed it in collaboration with Saskia, an amazing vocalist from Belgium, she stepped in and did an amazing job singing this very sexy and difficult song! I toned down the lyrics a bit but it's still very highly suggestive, so if you don't like sexy funky erotic songs then don't listen to this one. I added new sound effects to the mix, the moaning and groaning is not Saskia. I will be dropping the video on July 4th on YouTube with an age restriction on it, the video is pretty wild. i wrote the lyrics and melody in Malta (my so called silence retraite), as some sort of message that little gestures can cause a big change. And that is close to the original meaning of the instrumental.

This song began as an idea that Chris came up with on his acoustic guitar, and shared with Josh. Josh, loving everything that Chris writes, jumped at the opportunity to work on it.
Josh first added the melodic lap steel you hear throughout. Then, in the same session, came up with and recorded the mandolin track. He believes Rick Rubin's mantra, when it's flowing, keep it going. This song was the first of about half a dozen that Chris shared with the Eclectic Collective back at the beginning of summer. So, it sat dormant for about five months, until Chris revived it by adding the impressive rhythm section of bass and drums to complete it. Chris is always a multi talented part of the team.

When it was all in the can, we asked Stephen to mix it for us, because his mixes are always so pro sounding. He also mastered it for us, too.

This is the first song that Chris and Josh have recorded as a duo in almost a year. However, they love recording together and feel this is a great way to start the New Year with some magical music. We all hope you enjoy listening to this as much as we enjoyed creating it.

The Oldest Nightmare

Hey… glad you dropped by. Gonna get real cold here, and I have a bit of snow shoveling to finish before the cold snap, so this is a short song. More an exploration of ideas than a song, as I fumble about with music. Maybe the season? Or my age? Or life in general? Or my dreams at night about my life? Whatever it may be, I am certainly wondering about where I am right now, how I got here, what I am doing here, and where I might be headed, if anywhere in particular. Sometimes I catch little glimpses of the essence of all this. I am an old man now. Maybe this comes with the territory? I stumble about through these days, especially if I don’t watch where I am going. I’ve lived through far too many wars, too much collective global hatred and violence, and witnessed outright cruelty. That has made it more difficult to live on this planet, as time passes. I’ve also found myself lost in the beauty of this world, fascinated by everything around me. It is as if time becomes irrelevant, as everything just happens. Everywhere I turn I am amazed and grateful to be alive. I don’t want to miss a thing. We live, we die, we laugh, we cry. "This song started with Tez coming up with a heavy riddim and monster bass to go with it, over which he laid his clockwork rhythm guitar. He shared it with Josh, who came up with the piano and organ parts. It was pretty much done, but we wated vocals on it, so it languished on the digital shelf for almost half a year. 
  That is until Saskia heard and worked with Tez on a different open collab on his page. He then offered her this one. She downloaded it, added her superb vocals, and sent it back to the other two to review. They were blown away by her creativity and skill as a singer, and are very grateful to her for reviving the project. 
  When it was all laid down, Tez mixed it expertly, as always. Saskia took his mix, sped it up and adjusted her vocals, too. She is a very competent producer, as well.
  Tez and Josh are big dub fans from way back, and this is the latest in a couple year running series of collabs in the genre from the two of them. They are very grateful to Saskia for doing such a wonderful job of completing the song. Look for her in future collabs, both with Tez and Josh, as well as with their band, The Eclectic Collective. We all hope you enjoy listening to this as much as we enjoyed creating it. "

When https://soundcloud.com/dneye asked me for a track to play his fantastic guitars on, I brainstormed this 5/4 piece with odd chord set in order to make it difficult to him and thus get the best from his skills. After programming it, I added some organic solos (yep I played keys) to make it seem more friendly ;))))

And he... succeeded in the challenge, overcoming all my expectations !!!
