Gladio Operations is back with a new release, their first to appear in 2021.
On this occasion the UHF duo reactivate with this EP titled "Fact or Fiction", a body of work in which we once again discover different styles in their productions, something that is becoming a characteristic of the Spanish duo.

This EP opens with the track “Fact Or Fiction”, also the title of the EP, and where UHF gifts us with a steamroller of a track, with vertiginous drops and well accompanied by a masterful remix by the Romanian producer Andrew Red Hand, which converts it into a more emotional piece and highly influenced by the Detroit sound.

On the B side we encounter “Morning Glory”, a more atmospheric and enveloping cut,
accompanied by a fantastic 303-scented bass line. This track comes with another great
remix, this time by the French producer Jauzas The Shining, where he unveils a darker and deeper vision than the original cut.

The EP ends with “Like Bad At Things” a theme similar to IDM style, with an effective
mix of dark textures and melancholic melodies.

Grooves Magazine 
Following up on the original vinyl released earlier in 2004, the CD version of Synchronaut adds five new tracks. With a distinctively deep, dark analog sound that harkens back to a mix of early acid, Detroit techno, and classic Elektroids, the record is packed with the classic 4/4, relentless 16ths of percussion , and robotic vocals of the 80's b-boy sound. Brisk and biting, tracks like "Close Encounters" and "Get Ghetto" establish an oppressive futurist vision early. But "Plt_lounge_eur" is a lovely, almost nostalgic electro piece that lubricates the ear canals, being plush and synthetic at the same time, and "Rhthmus Machine" slows down to an introspective crawl, its sensuous knob-twiddling making the piece grow and rise like a post-massive dawn. EMS has put together these extra pieces with as much care and attention as his homemade instruments. Highly recommended.

Technical History
The electromusic specialist began designing and assembling his studio in New York in 1994. The initial purpose was to have a live setup that he could use to construct songs directly on the dance floor with few pre-written sequences.
Many of his synthesizers and drum machines were self-engineered from recycled, discarded electronics; converted into chaotic but solid techno music machines. From the transistor up they were engineered for raw bass power and allowed stray noises and malfunctions to become part of the recording or show.
The main foundation pieces of equipment at the time were his "CMS-01" modular synth, "Modularhythm System-3" drum machine, and "Sputnik Voice Processor SVP-02" vocoder. After his first couple records, EMS started to incorporate some commercial synthesizers into his studio to fill out tracks for the third record with plenty of live-performed layers without having to multitrack, but instead doing a 1 shot composite recording. Some of his most-used additional instruments were the Oberheim SEM, Sequential Circuits Pro-1 and Roland SH-101, which contained several modifications and enhancements.
CMS-01 Modular Synthesizer
The CMS-01 contains the following modules: VCO(2), VCF(2), VCA(3), AR Envelope, ADSR Envelope, Sample&Hold, Ring Modulator, Patch Bay, Trigger Extractor, AC/DC Mixer, LFO/HFO, VC Glide, Comparator, Envelope Follower, VC Slew Limiter
VCO 1
Based on an old design which is mostly discrete, this VCO is quite temperature sensitive. This one was fun trying to keep in tune every time someone opened the door or cranked up the fog machine. Cold makes the pitch go flat on this unit. Other than that, it has a very warm sound and has a massive frequency range.

Sample & Hold
Labeled S&H, this little component helped a lot at shows. To fill the silence between live or DJ sets this one was patched in to VCO2 with a slow clock for sample rate and the voltage was output to a self-oscillating VCF1. Lots of blips and bleeps that could be tweaked to sound like computers from early scifi movies. Some notes could shake the floor with bass where the next could hang on almost inaudible high frequencies.

LFO
Well, this might as well have been called HFO since it was mostly used as a high-frequency modulation source often applied to a VCF. The sound from that kind of patch is described as "talkie" because at certain settings you can almost hear vowel sounds. The component is on the bottom left, look for the small blue LED.

Electro , what is it, and its  history with Satamile Records. Almost everyone in electronic music has heard of 
Kraftwerk, and it really was these Germans that set the DNA for which the genre of Electro would spawn in the years to follow. Electro during this time in the USA was more breakbeat oriented with a multitude of them coming out of NY, and later Hip Hop (much slower tempo) spawned partially from Electro. Much of the main inspiration came from Kraftwerk during its US tour at this time, early eighties. This DNA consisited of some certain defining charachteristics such as, Synthesizers, Sequencers, vocoders of which at this time were all analog. For gear, think Roland-909,808,606 (little electro firecracker), Oberheim, Doepfer, Juno-106 and Akai samplers. Another main characteristic to define Electro  was its heavy endeavor to Science Fiction or "into the future" characteristics.  Its important not to confuse Electro with Synth Pop, New Wave , Industrial or breaks, these are all seperate genres defined by their own unique DNA and fans  (Ecspecially Electro House, and ElectroClash, both of which are not Electro).  So in short, think pop-in and lock-in robots, on the Enterprise as they break it down for their head-spins into the future Galaxy. 

Satamile Records was born out of the Rave scene of the very early 90's, which in itself had qucikly adopted the Electro genre for the rave Events giving a boost and creation of countless Electro labels, that only released Electro. We are sort of a new Electro or hybrid electro is some case's taking the best from the past and creating a bigger and fuller sound for the times.  We also really owe alot to Ravers and Promoters during this time,  for their open minds ,DIY ethic and sharp foresight into "Whats Hot". It was these pioneers that supported so many new underground genres, such Breaks, Techno, Electro
Tekhouse, Dubtek (Minimal) and Ambient (IDM) and NOT the major label executives in their cushy offices so you  really have to give a bow to the first wave of ravers and the promoters,,,the best music entrepreneurs of their time. Many labels today simply would not exist today if these people did not support the music and the politics of Law did not stop these events from happening. 

In our early years Satamile was will on the way with its involvement in Electronic music production and live performance .  We were a consistent presence in the NY underground scene and alternative Club scene. Performing live with Modulars and drummachines, Dj'ing, throwing events, sponsoring Graphic artist for flyers, all of which re-presented in some way the new electronic culture.  Hosting nights at Filter 14 (Jacky 60), The Cooler, Baktun, The Kitchen, Gas Station, Robots, Open Air, and many more. We have produced over 400 Club events in NY city for artist such as Ellen Alien, ADULT, Monolake, Pole, 
Schematics, Tipper, Mixmaster Morris, Andrew Weatherall, Keith Tenniswood, Mark Broom, Orbital, Keith Tucker, and many more.

Staying true to its nature Satamile allways pressed Vinyl along with its CD release's. Vinyl is a superior medium, and the taste of DJ ' worldwide for its
superb qualities and usability.  We had CD's in the early 90's , but who wanted to play them, when you cold play vinyl instead, it was so much cooler than a 
CD, it spawned Train Spotting, and was far better for dj'ing. Toady most of our vinyl is pressed at Brooklyn Phono, 225,000 pounds per square inch. This is still true for today  so buy vinyl when you can it rules the night waves and you wont have to worry about your computer crashing on Final Scratch. 

Today satamile exist as one of the leading Electro labels in the world with over 25 artist from all around the world on the label it will be coming up on our 60th release shortly.  Along with the main label Satamile we also have sub-labels, Bot and SatRX  to serve different purposes, Bot for downtempo projects, and SatRX for remix's.
