Update: Changed name from NIN to Nailed. Even thought it's a genuine tribute I don't want to be seen as highjacking their brand so... Also added a loop of 9 nail strikes per bar throughout and gave it sox on the vox... oh and bass guitar in there somewhere too

This is a tribute to Nine Inch Nails the band. Very luckily I saw them live on the Peel it Back tour in Dublin and they solidified their status as the most influential 'active' band for me in my world. An amazing show and well worth checking out if you can. The notes below the lyrics are elements I want to build into the song. Obviously not trying to rip them off but I guess I'm trying to paint a musical picture with some of their brushes and canvas. So far I'm happy the base tune appears to be original and also relevant to their material. Maybe it has enough to be obviously NIN influenced too. I'd welcome opinions on that if you have time 🖤

Further orchestration:

- Consider dropping drums for the last two lines of each verse to emphasis the lines and make them the double emphasis you learned from Papa. RE read what he said about that and link and pass on the lesson if relevant

-consider setting up a synth to create a spiral effect with panning and pitch shifting to honour the Downward Spiral

-Use breaking glass effect to honour The Fragile. Maybe make this a positive flip by using a reversed breaking of glass effect making something that's impossible at least possible in sound. That can be a powerful metaphor

- Add a Machine sound of some kind to honour Pretty hate Machine. Tie this machine sound to the reverse effected glass breaking effect and tie that positivity to the hope we keep machines & technology under a better control collectively

This song began its life in Poland, where our resident surf rock specialist, Artur, composed it on his giutar. He is a brilliant composer and expert player, so we're always glad to receive music from him.

Artur gave it to JJ to start the project, so JJ was first to the trough here, adding his breathy, moving organ and envelope synth throughout. Ken came along shorly after to give the song its heartbeat, adding his triumphant drums. As soon as he had a beat to play to, Josh added his four string fretless bass to the mix, completing the rhythm section.

Now it was the other guitarists turn to take a whack at it. Tez was first up, adding the magical the first and third solos, in the verse sections. He also lit up the intro and outro sections with some dynamic guitar solos, as well. Stephen went last, filling in the second and fourth solo sections in the choruses, as well as a textural guitar that you hear through most of the song. He also added the exotic sitar you hear in about the middle.

Once we had it in the bag, we asked Stephen to produce it for us, which he did in his always trained, professional manner.

This is the eighth song we've done with Artur over the past about year and a half. We adore his music and him as a person, too. If you dig this song, you should hop over to his page and have a listen in case you're not already familiar. He loves surf music, and wanted to note the passing of surf rock legend, Brian Wilson this week. Wilson was more than just Pet Sounds, although that album is top class. He was a surf rock pioneer, who influenced a whole genre of music; a genre that's near and dear to Artur's heart.

“I Wish (I Was Like You)” is an emotional song about longing, self-denial, and the fear of hurting those we care about — wrapped in a dark, poetic vampire metaphor.

I love exploring different genres and diving into new musical worlds — and right now, it's musical theatre that's calling me.

This song is part of a musical project in collaboration with Sarah Paradise Brown, centered around themes of inner conflict, unfulfilled love, and the tension between light and darkness.

A new song with Sarah is already in the works — and there may be more to come as we continue to unfold this mysterious chapter.

This song, titled HANA, is a powerful expression that mirrors the heart of a flower enveloped in flowing water with the heart of one's own lost mind.

This song expresses the confusion of a positive desire to bring back the sparkle in one's path in life, and the disappointment that this is not easily achievable.

My goal is to create grand original songs with an atmosphere similar to rock or metal, layered with piano and strings.
The main themes of the songs are emotional themes such as love and dreams, as well as natural themes such as the universe, the world, the sky, and the sea.

I recorded the guitar, bass, piano and drums myself, although I'm not very good at them. The vocals (Koharu Rikka) are expressed using Synthesizer V.
Some elements like certain string parts, ambient sounds, and subtle adjustments were programmed using MIDI — although some of the string sounds were also played and recorded using an electric piano.

In particular, I love and cherish the structure of the songs, including the piano playing, the powerful and beautiful melodies, and the worldview created by the strings.

I hope my original songs reach your heart.
