Here’s my ‘Spotlight’ mix for Saturo Sounds, where we choose an artist we love to do a set using only their productions. My spotlight mix features some incredible productions and remixes all by one of my favorite producers - Dee Montero.

A Life Less Ordinary Guest Mix - Liam Boult

The ‘Collective Futurism’ EP is the first release from The Futurists, consisting of two deep, trippy, and hypnotic progressive house tracks ‘Vladivostok’ and ‘Third Fiddle’. The EP is rounded out with an incredible, deep organic remix of ‘Vladivostok’ by Akiva and an amazing driving breaks remix of ‘Third Fiddle’ by Sean Gruv.

‘Vladivostok’ is inspired by a trippy tour across the outer extremes of the trans-Siberian railway. The dark and driving beats keep the groove locked throughout, as vocal samples twist and tease like a dystopian dream. The track builds and builds with multiple layers, to an orchestral crescendo that stays long in the listener’s imagination.

Akiva takes on a slowed-down, moodier interpretation of “Vladivostok” putting on his signature percussion-focused, atmospheric sound, of late.

‘Third Fiddle’ is inspired by an American violin player’s life story, and his spoken word quotes and samples are interspersed throughout. This dark and chunky tech-progressive tune has complex layered beats that build to an orchestral choir-inspired chorus. This track is sure to destroy dance floors around the globe, with a dynamic tension of light, shade, and a sprinkling of intrigue.

While Sean Gruv’s remix of ‘Third Fiddle’ is a deep rolling breakbeat journey filled with trippy synths and a splash of the original vocals to round it out. Enjoy the ride.

The Futurists would like to give huge thanks to Barry Jamieson and Manu Riga for their incredible mixdown and mastering on the original tracks, Akiva and Sean Gruv for delivering phenomenal remixes in their own unique styles, and finally Saturo Sounds for believing in us, and releasing our first EP!

Saturo Sounds' 32nd release sees a stacked line-up of melodic and progressive artists. We welcome in underground UK staples in Marskman and Exoco, the latter making his production debut. And, remixes by the dynamic trio that is Mind Of Us along with Saturo's label-head AKIVA.

Gyara EP', a double-dose of aural exploration delivered by the combined genius of Marksman and Exoco. This latest offering introduces two emotionally charged tracks: 'Gyara' and 'Ixora,' both guaranteed to transport listeners on a sonic expedition through haunting melodies and mesmerizing arps.

'Gyara,' unfolds like an intricate tapestry of sound. Marksman and Exoco set a compelling stage with a dark, melodic progression that pulls listeners into a vivid realm of hypnotic arps and ethereal landscapes. At its core lies a captivating lead melody that surfaces after an epic breakdown, cementing the emotive journey in the annals of melodic masterpieces.

Next in line is Exoco's 'Ixora,' a beautifully crafted enigma that juxtaposes a mysterious darkness with a glimmer of hope. The backdrop is set by a moody melodic arp, upon which the dreamy lead melody dances, playing out like a whispering promise of dawn after a long, dark night.

Next up is Mind Of Us' remix of ‘Gyara' and their signature deep melodic sound, with throbbing bass, hypnotic pads, and shimmering hooks.

And rounding out the release is AKIVA's remix of Exoco's ‘Ixora' providing an energetic, driving progressive interpretation full of thick basslines, emotive pads, and hypnotic ear-candy.

After a stellar 2023, we are pleased to welcome in 2024, with none other than Darien J, who makes his long-awaited debut on Saturo Sounds, with a 4-track EP titled "Snowball Effect".

He writes '"Three deep, non-generic groovers and an intro track designed to make your sets stand out. The title track is one of my favourites to date with its big sound and deep meaning."' 

The titular track is indeed a brooding groover with a darker, philosophical a capella layered on top, guaranteed to get the dance floor a-rocking. The second track "Basic Elements" picks things up a notch with a darker melodic element, while retaining the mysterious nature that is now an evident motif behind the EP. "Big Funky" lives up to its name with an immensely funky foundation reminiscent of a dance music record used to sound like when based solely on drum machines and sequencers. 

Finally, rounding out the release is the electronica number appropriately titled "Space Train" which can and should be used as an intro, outro, and DJ Tech Tool for any DJ set, live set, and/or podcast and mix.
