Berlin based duo Mat.Joe are welcomed back to Nic Fanciulli's Saved Records this August, this time teaming up one of the founders of Electronic music in Ecuador, Ordonez, for their brand-new single, 'Tra Tra Tra'. From their roots as Hip-Hop producers, Mat.Joe have moved into producing and playing crispy House beats paired with rhythmic Soul and Hip-Hop elements, resulting in a deep, dancefloor-approved sound. &ME is returns to Saved and this time round delivers yet another outstanding EP.
First up on the A Side is "Matters". From the top the record commands a lot of attention with it's rolling, rich bassline surrounded by punchy, organic drums. The effective vocal moves with the track as more drums are added to the mix through intelligent programming. As it reaches the main drop the drum rolls create an intense buildup leading to the record kicking back in.  

On the flipside is "Ashes". The record has a cool, slow feel to it with a driving edge that progresses up and up towards the drop. The intensity of the record is just as big as the other side and seals off the package perfectly. 


&ME - Matters

Alex Tepper returns to Saved and this time round presents a solid EP that showcases his quality production skills. 
First up is "Got That". From the filtered intro the listener is instantly hooked and the record progresses with perfect programming and sublime percussion. The rumbling bottom end and stabs seal off this peak time bomb. 
On the flip is "Breathe In". Like "Got That" the track has a powerful subby bass that brings energy to the record alongside the crisp percussion and leading onto the drop with the effective vocal. Last but not least and sealing off this strong package is "Breathe Out".

Robert Dietz returns to Saved records and this time round showcases his talents on the 2 track "Heavy Mental EP". On the A side is "Stamina". From the very top the record has an addictive, old school hook to it encapsulated in bright, swinging hats. The baseline kicks in at the right moment and pulls in listener into the groove closer. A real techy bomb with a drop that builds and kicks back in with total effect. 

Over on the flip side is "Heavy Mental". The track possesses intelligent drum programming with a punchy kick that sounds perfect along the pulsating baseline and edited vocal hits.

Josh Butler returns with yet another knockout production on Defected. The deep and groovy ‘Feels Good’ gained immediate attention when the DJ Mag and Beatport award-winning producer premiered it on his BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix on earlier this year. The track has an authentic house sound, as Josh blends uplifting synths and rave stabs with the feel-good powerhouse vocals of soul duo HanLei, noted for their work as Grace Jones’ backing singers. On the Dub, Josh brings the composition to heavy hitting grounds, with a deeply rhythmic bassline and breakdowns, which have already been slaying dancefloors in Ibiza and Croatia. Dear All,

I am very excited to share with you the first single from my forthcoming #EDM album on @Armadamusic. This song, a collaboration with Arty and Nadia, began several years ago in demo form when I emailed a rough track to Nadia. After several months of riffing back and forth on lyrical notes and counterpoint lines, I began the lengthy and arduous task of comping together a meaningful and poignant vocal. I often compare this process to pointillism in art. It takes an extraordinary amount of time, but in the end when it's worth it, it's well worth it.

This track then sat on my proverbial studio shelf for about 18months. During this time, one of the myriad of pieces I was composing was a 6/4 64 bpm orchestral composition that had these protracted movements of cello, vibraphone, metalaphone and handbells. It occurred to me, somewhere I think I have a vocal, in a related key and tempo / signature. I dug around on the server and bingo...dorian it was. Nadia's vocal was a near perfect fit and worked amazingly with some of the orchestral and small instrument (TBU style) orchestration.

Enter...Arty. At this time Arty and I had been talking over DM on Twitter about collaborating on a track together. I sent him both the vocal and orchestral things we'd written and he sent me back beautiful percolating and driving percussion, an incredible undulating tresillo ostinato synth line and a beautiful drop.

This part of the process began to culminate during this summer. As I was beginning to dig in to Trevor Wisharts brilliant new version of CDP. For those of you that don't know, CDP is a command based DSP programing language that calls opcodes and commands in either OSX terminal or DOS. I've been using it in both for many years but this track is the first time I've really gotten my hands dirty so to speak, on something as prominent as a vocal and Nadia's provided the perfect clay. After about 100+ hours of pure sound design, spectral blurring..distort repeating and the epic PSOW and modify brassage, you can hear the results of these sonic transformations throughout "Must be the Love", most notably at the very beginning. I for one have never heard anything like this.

More than anything, this is a beautiful and simple song that speaks directly to me, and I hope to you as well. After all, music is first and foremost a language to speak the unspoken directly from breathing life form to breathing life form.

Radio Slave returns to his Rekids label with ‘Live My Life’, including a remix from Saved Records’ boss Nic Fanciulli.

Responsible for some of the most recognisable vocal tracks in techno for the past 15 years, Radio Slave’s latest sees him turn in yet another tough, infectious cut that uses soulful vocal refrains as hooks. Airtight, rolling grooves have been a prominent feature in much of Radio Slave’s work, and ‘Live My Life’ is no different, paired with occasionally overlapping vocals it’s a masterclass in tension and release.

On the flip, Grammy-nominated and globally renowned DJ and producer Nic Fanciulli cleverly reinterprets Edwards’ original, in a version that sees a pulsing, offbeat bassline and ever-evolving drums drive the track towards vocal crescendos throughout. Stirring, memorable, and yet another outstanding release from one of dance music’s finest.
