Music is a mission not a competition. That’s the Megablast mantra, and never has it been more apt. in an age of disposable music and online egos, Megablast stands out as an authentic musician and an authentic human being.

Although he DJs at mega clubs like Heart, Pacha and Ushuaia, he is no ordinary scenester. He has a fine collection of vintage synths in his Ibiza studio, but he rates his young daughter as his biggest creative inspiration. His outlook on life has changed completely since becoming a father. The stressed-out industry hustler he used to be has been replaced by a man who enjoys living among nature in the Ibiza countryside and spending alternate weeks in Austria with his daughter.

It was in the studio back in Austria that he first made his name, most notably as part of a collaboration with his long-term friend Makossa. Their track Soy Como Soy attracted the attention of International Deejay Gigolo Records and went absolutely massive. Since then Megablast’s own productions have been released by a multitude of top labels (!K7, Flying Circus, Sol Selectas, Compost, Moblack) and remixed by some of the best in the business (DJ Koze, Luciano, Henrik Schwarz, DJ T, Booka Shade). He is particularly proud to have been remixed by one of his biggest creative influences: the legendary Acid Pauli.

Just like Pauli, he isn’t interested in the latest trends - he just does his own thing. He likes melody and he likes atmosphere but he also likes the sampling style of his hip hop heroes from back in the day. Open-mindedness and balance is fundamental to his music - all influences are welcomed.

Megablast has never forgotten how Kruder & Dorfmeister took him and Makossa under their wing and inspired them to grow as artists. Now Megablast would like to inspire others to grow in the same way, so don’t be surprised to see him collaborating with some of the superstars of tomorrow on the next phase of his musical mission, which is most certainly NOT a competition!
