Jordan is a state in the Near East. It borders Israel, Palestine (with the border under Israeli control), Syria, Iraq, Saudi Arabia and the Red Sea at the Gulf of Aqaba (where it has a maritime border with Egypt). Jordan was formed during the First World War as a result of the Arab Revolt against the Ottoman Empire. From 1921 to 1946 it existed as the “Emirate of Transjordan,” which was a British protectorate. Jordan became independent in 1946, two years before the rest of the British League of Nations mandate (now Israel and Palestine). Jordan then went directly into a decades-long military conflict with Israel over the adjacent West Bank, which was only ended with a peace treaty in 1994. For some time now, the country has been characterized primarily by the reception of many refugees; Jordan is the country in the world with the second highest proportion of refugees in the country's population (after Lebanon, as of 2020).

The government of Jordan is a constitutional monarchy, but the king has extensive executive and legislative powers. Jordan is a founding member of the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. The country has a high human development index and belongs to the group of low-middle income economies. Jordan's economy, one of the smallest in the region, is attractive to foreign investors due to its skilled workforce. The country is a major tourist destination and also attracts medical tourists due to its well-developed healthcare sector. Nevertheless, a lack of natural resources, a large influx of refugees and regional unrest have slowed economic growth.

Moldova is a landlocked country in southeastern Europe. It borders Romania to the west. To the north, east and south, the Republic of Moldova is completely surrounded by Ukraine, because between Moldova and the Black Sea lies the Ukrainian region of Budjak, which was separated from Bessarabia.

Historically, the territory belonged to the Principality of Moldova from the founding of this state, from 1812 to the Russian Empire, after the First World War largely to Romania and from 1940 to the Soviet Union. Since then, the Transnistria conflict has significantly hampered the political development of the state; the Transnistria part of the state is not under the control of the Moldovan government. Togo is a country in West Africa, located on the Gulf of Guinea, bordering Ghana to the west, Benin to the east, and Burkina Faso to the north. Lomé is the capital and seat of government.

Togo's territory encompasses the eastern part of the German colony of Togo, which existed from 1884 to 1916. From 1916 to 1960, Togo was a League of Nations mandate territory and a United Nations trust territory under French administration. The autocratic President Gnassingbé Eyadéma dominated the country for almost 40 years. After his death in 2005, the army appointed his son, Faure Gnassingbé, as the new president, in violation of the constitution. International pressure and unrest in the country did not lead to a return to constitutionality. Gnassingbé won the subsequent elections, although the opposition and the European Union accused him of massive electoral fraud. Several thousand refugees remain abroad. Togo has been a member of the Commonwealth of Nations since 2022.

According to the Standing Committee on Geographical Names, the name for citizens of Togo is "Togoer" or "Togoerin." However, the Duden dictionary also lists the common form "Togolese" or "Togolesin."

Africa is one of Earth's continents. According to the "Out of Africa Theory," Africa is considered the "cradle of humanity," where the development into anatomically modern humans (Homo sapiens) took place through hominization. One of humanity's earliest advanced civilizations developed in ancient Egypt. Over the millennia, various "great empires" emerged on the continent, such as the Abyssinian Empire. The slave trade with the African empires from the 16th century onwards and the subsequent colonization by European states ("Scramble for Africa") led to a somewhat sketchy territorial division. This was adopted by many newly formed African states during the decolonization process from the mid-20th century onwards. The heterogeneous peoples of Africa have traditionally had different settlement areas, which contributes to various conflicts and wars over territorial claims, raw materials, and power.

While most African countries were long governed by autocracy, democratic movements became more common from the late 20th century onward, with Africa performing the worst since democracy measurements began. Poverty, famine, child mortality, and health problems have been significantly reduced in recent decades through advances in education, economics, medicine, and infrastructure. The importance of African countries in the global economy in terms of GDP remains low, with a few exceptions such as South Africa, Nigeria, Egypt, Algeria, Angola, and Morocco. However, several African countries have been among the world's fastest-growing economies since the beginning of the 21st century. The continent's raw materials and arable land are of increasing importance to African countries, as well as to the industrialized and emerging economies that trade with them.

Africa's geography and nature are diverse, with a large number of protected national parks. Africa's UNESCO World Heritage sites are extensive.
