At the core of art there is a point of view which is unapologetically reflective of our environment. The beauty of art lies within subjective interpretation yet, one's interpretation reflects the individual's character based on their perspective. Crass (definition) - (of persons) so unrefined as to be lacking in discrimination and sensibility. It is of profound consequence that Hip-Hop as a culture is one which has never sat well with an elitist mind-set because of its radical nature on championing the downtrodden cause. Long since surpassing all musical genre in its reaches, there is always a push-back from "authorities" and some would even state, sabotage through a watering down of the culture. Compositions on this particular project reflect an evolving mind-set yet one which still remains astute in its defiance to being funnelled through the narrow passage of acceptance. Politicians often assume the mantle of heroism whilst demonising anything or anyone posing a threat to their ambition. Africa has known an older generation which has smothered the next to lengthen their prime which is past. The greater powers offer assistance in the form of "crocodilian" jaws. Parents pit their children's desires against their self-indulged perception of the future in the name of love. Women and men are at odds in the tangle of their relationships due to gossip culture and yet possessing vastly indulgent spirits. There is a great deal of hypocrisy at work and little responsibility being taken on. So in this case Dimitri & The Scarecrow assume the villainy of branding whilst cutting through the resistance with visceral mercilessness. Essentially labelling me maliciously will not dissuade me from making a valid impression.

Posers is a track produced by legendary producer DJ Vadim and written by Dimitri & The Scarecrow as a satirical address to an emerging crop of pop culture attention mongers who take on the mantle of Hip-Hop yet do little to grow the culture positively.

Messenger is Sender the EP is a project crafted after Dimitri & The Scarecrow having seen valid affirmation in the craft of Hip-Hop. Using a personally tailored style of production, Dimitri D. Kwenda has managed to siphon a passion for instruments as the basis to the texture of his sound. Dimitri & The Scarecrow being a musical concept constructed with endless adaptability in creative morphology, this is the first petal in the unravelling of the craft's blossoming.

Do NOT shoot the messenger because communication is vital to understanding. Be as critical as you please to the sender of the message but at least ponder on the opinion which stirs sentiment. Be willing to embrace discomfort and learn to also voice an opinion before acceptance or dismissal. That is the general context of the lyrical construct of this project.

Dimitri delivers sincerity without fear of being chastised nor hope for approval. The music is a creative journey with deliberate delivery which makes full use of expressing the range of Dimitri's musical gifts. From heavily layered lyricism demanding the deep lyrical Hop-Hop head to decipher metaphor, to blatant epiphanies for the everyday listener to ponder on the poignancy of simplicity, this 7 track gem is meant to be played from start to end so one can absorb the experience.

Conceptually the Scarecrow as a metaphor based on the agrarian system of Zimbabwe as a utility to summarize the people in juxtaposition between governance and survival. Employing poetry, satire and humorist styles, Dimitri addresses a kaleidoscope of matters as an observer, victim, idealist, realist, critic & the privileged. Alternative Hip-Hop is the main genre utilized as the medium of expression for Dimitri & The Scarecrow.
