Philadelphia's own Elvin T has taken an initial request for a mix and interview and put a spin on it to pay homage to all of the Black artists from this country who have influenced music at all levels; from spoken word to house, disco and beyond.

A statement by the artist:  "I wanted to make a mix celebrating poetry told by folks about anything and everything - love and loss, mystery and excitement. Perhaps this could be thought of as a poem composed of others' poetry. Most importantly I wanted the authors or at least contributors to be American, I just felt like more people needed to hear an American Poem."

I am very happy because these days I have been listening to one of the music that most attracted me years ago. After high school and saturated with listening rock, I began to be interested in jazz, becoming a super fan of the genre, especially funk jazz from the late 70's and early 80's.
Now again the funkiest scene has resurfaced, especially in London where it have great bands that are making fabulous music. 
Here you can find some of the pieces that I liked the most, all the tracks are edited in the spirit of the beatmakers compressing many songs in a short time. I hope you enjoy and my apologies to all who miss the parts i cut. :)
