There are few artists with closer ties to the UK – or London, for that matter – than Rob Glassett. Under his alias Fold he’s spent the last few years playing as a resident DJ on the London hub of NTS, a station that’s established itself as a home for a diverse and impressive range of the best talent coming up right now in this country.

His records so far have had an unmistakably UK edge, with Will Saul’s Aus Music the main outlet helping to push his strand of deep house. Then there’s his own label Well Street Records, whose excellent debut has been getting rinsed in sets by Benji B and Ben UFO over the last few months.

As a close peer to the Hessle camp and artists like Joy Orbison, Glassett is part of a small circle of UK DJs currently helping to shape and evolve the current dance music fraternity. Judging from the 90-minute mix he’s recorded for us, too, his main direction seems to be part of the ongoing trend for broken house and techno.

The next Dispatch LTD instalment heads to the South Coast as we welcome Bournemouth resident Rizzle to the label for his debut release, the ‘Ascension EP’. 

Intricate, crisp drums are offset by deep, melodic chords throughout the release, as Rizzle brings a sophisticated warmness to the fold. 

With techno inspired progression and smooth pads contrasting the fast pace, his music strikes a nerve in opposing settings; chilled, easy listening at home on the one hand, but harboring a dark, subtle groove that causes damage on a club system. 

Rizzle raises the bar with his Ascension EP, teasing between alternating vibes across four rolling tracks, that each leave a soulful glow in their trail.

I'm not posting this too attach myself to all the attention this tragic loss is getting. In no way shape or form is this about me.  It's all about the legacy of this icon of this music we love. I'm posting this for perspective about how much this mans music changed the game.  This was the first time these two tunes were played on the radio in Toronto.  I had just come back from London with a dubplate of Universe and a test press of Way U Make me Feel and I was adamant about playing these tunes in Toronto at a time when the techy Bad Company/ Virus clones were dominating the sound at the raves here. For accurate history purposes the first DJ to ever play Way u Make Me Feel in Toronto was Jumping Jack Frost who had been in town a few weeks earlier and inspired me to make it my mission to get this tune when i went to London.  These two tunes literally changed the direction of the music at the time, and signalled the return of Marcus Intalex and St Files who had both been active Jungle producers in the mid 90's as Marcus was half of Da Intalex on Flex records and their own Intalex Productions label and ST as a solo artist and regular collaborator with L Double as part of Low Key Movements (Reinforced) and Asylum(Da Bass 2 dark)  RIP to this untouchable pioneer of DnB (and a sick Techno producer to boot)  In my personal Top 5 all time, Current number 1, personal number one buy on sight producer and indisputable regardless of your tastes top 10 all time DnB producer.  Rest In Power Marcus (Intalex/Trevino) Kaye.  Your legacy lives forever.
