It's music from the softer spectrum of electronic dance music (I hate that this term is usually used to describe a very specific genre)recorded on a rainy midweek afternoon. About time to add another exceptional cocktail to our drinks menu: The Aku Aku Lapu, named after the legend and national hero of the Philippines, "Chief Lapu Lapu". C.Vogt creates the perfect cocktail sipping vibe by matching quality disco and funky ingredients with an undercurrent of deepness with this week's sensational edition. C.Vogt is half Filipino and dedicates this mix to his mother who celebrates her birthday this month. 

Son of the renowned German violinist K.Vogt, music has been second nature to Chriss Vogt, also known as C.Vogt, for as long as he can remember. An academic student of music, specifically the piano and saxophone, his plan of a professional career in classical music took at different turn when he discovered electronic music.

With a cinematic style that seamlessly blend classical music, early 2000s progressive and deep house, C.Vogt mixes old and new, fearlessly breaks down barriers and challenges the norms of what contemporary dance music feels and sounds like.

In a short period of time, this Mainz, Germany native has released a slew of high profile releases on Visionquest, All Day I Dream, Get Physical, Rebirth, Get Weird, Diynamic and has gone from local to global prospect. He is a frequent collaborating partner of Butch and counts Pete Tong, Lee Burridge, Kölsch and Sasha as some of his supporters.

I'm happy to finally release my first extended set with you, recorded at StereoBar in Montreal. StereoBar is a club that's quickly jumped onto my shortlist of favorite venues in the world. Beyond the nailing the club fundamentals (sound system, layout, lighting, staff), they feature the "All Night" series where one DJ plays as opener, headliner, and closer. I love this format since it gives me the opportunity to build the energy from scratch and take the night in any direction without constraints.

But more importantly, I get to play for one of the most enthusiastic, supportive crowds that I've ever encountered. The energy from this night was the strongest I've felt in quite some time, certainly my best gig of the last year. Almost everything I threw out there worked, which actually makes me think that I might not have worked hard enough. There are many more sonic landscapes I'd love to explore, so hopefully I can come back again soon and we can take another journey in that special room...

Round two...

My second year at Burning Man. This time, I was a bit more relaxed 
because I knew what I was getting myself into - well at least that's 
what I thought. I quickly realized that this year seemed somehow similar 
but also very different to my experience from last year - very hard to 
explain why, so I won't even start trying. I guess this is one of the 
reasons, why people keep coming back - you simply can't explain, and you 
don't have to. Everything is so overly fascinating here. This time I 
played the bus during the day, which was perfect because those daytime 
sets are my favourite. After a long rest and a healthy breakfast... just 
kidding, it was a cereal bar and a vodka orange, I left my camp to find 
the bus - I didn't right away actually, which made me a bit nervous - 
fortunately tho, I had the honour to play after Lee Burridge, which 
usually means that there are lots of people. So I just had to figure out 
where the crowd was headed and follow them, the perfect plan. It was 
boiling hot, and I got my first sunburn at burning man – oh right, plus 
I did play some music as well :). What can i say, it was simply 
fantastic - the vibe, the people. I'm really thankful for the opportunity.

We had an amazing time playing our hybrid set at into the woods festival during ADE. After weeks of preparation, it felt so great to play out and get such a warm response from the public. Thank you to everyone that came out and dance with us. Until next time.
