On August 11th 1973 the godfather of Hip Hop DJ Kool Herc threw a party that was to spawn a worldwide movement. In 2013 Hip Hop turns 40! 

To honour this DJ Woody launches his new audio-visual DJ show as an ode to the music and culture that changed his and so many others' lives over the last 4 decades. 

'Hip Hop is 40' chronicles and celebrates all things Hip Hop. 
From the original breaks to the first rap records and through the eighties, nineties and noughties party rockers up to todays future classics.

Building on his groundbreaking video DJ shows 'Turntables In Technicolor' and 'Big Phat 90's' and utilising his trademark edits, animations, graphics and World champion turntablist skills. This is Woody's most ambitious show to date!

In 2002, he released Aziatic from which his single "The Essence“ f/ Nas was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group. AZ has since released four solo-LP’s (his solo release Undeniable also made a high debut on the Billboard charts) and worked with artists such as Nas, RZA, DJ Premier, Ghostface, Raekwon, Pete Rock, Buckwild, Trackmasters, Emile, Lil Fame, Phonte, Sheek Louch, Styles P, Foxy Brown, Beanie Sigel, Nottz, Large Professor, Bink, Baby Paul, MoSS, & Statik Selektah and remained a constant staple with fans and critics alike.

Tune in, turn on, drop out! „The Trip“ is Dexter's long-awaited follow-up to his seminal „Jazz Files“ album. The German gold & platinum producer (Casper , Cro) and Hi-Hat Club member is letting his hair down by turning the late 60ties psychedlic rock sound into hip-hop.
„The Trip“ is all about free love, LSD, hash, fuzz guitars, tablas and revolution and at the same time probably one of the most free-thinking hip-hop albums of 2013. Dexter's music has been in its own cloud for a while now, but none of his previous records have been as far-out as „The Trip“. With a concept similar the „The Jazz Files“ Dexter is telling his personal psych story, one that been triggered by his diggin habits. „I like nearly every music from the late 60ties“, he says, „My whole musical spectrum has been shaped by this era. It was a time when everything was in progress - art, film, music, society. And I wanted to bring this vibe across on this album.“

Artwork comes from Robert (photos) and Gizem Winter (illustrations). The first single from „The Trip“ will be „Pictures“ and featurew Berlin singer Josa Peit on vocals.
