This is an album based on field recordings of construction sites that i made between 2001 and 2009 whilst living and working in one of the most vibrant renovation areas of Berlin. The idea for this project came along when i realised that my own, mostly improvised electronic music started to imitate the sounds and structures of the construction sites that i was surrounded by for so many years, up to 15 hours a day, 6 days a week and which drove me to the brink of mental meltdown every once in a while. To keep sane, i started recording and kind of enjoying the sounds and patterns which the construction workers were creating and realised that they consciously or unconciously also used their tools as sound devices and even reacted to each other in ways which could be perceived as improvised music.
On this album i combined some of these moments with my own electronic recordings from that time. I didn‘t edit, process and arrange the music too much, because i wanted these original moments, which were played by the unknown working men and which sometimes reach something that i would call cosmic music, to be heard.

This is a brief extract of Cäcilie Awestruck, a 24 hours nonstop concert that was played by Schneider TM, Kptmichigan, Ilpo Väisänen, Ronald Lippok & Tomoko Nakasato on 20th & 21st of November 2011 at Kleistfestival / Maxim Gorki Theater & Marienkirche, Berlin. This particular piece was played on three churchorgans at Marienkirche, while the electroacoustic part of the concert was based on Heinrich von Kleist's biomass and took place in the studio of Maxim Gorki Theater.

Postfabricated released in 1999 as a CDr edition of 222 (Microwave/Staalplaat, NL).The original version of Postfabricated, my third full length CD, was recorded between 1998 and 1999 via analog connections to minidisc and afterwards mastered at a studio. The minidisc compression, combined with a studio engineer not accustomed to this type of recorded material compromised the details of the sounds, noting the difference upon listerning to the source material files, I began to reconstruct the entire work digiatlly, utlizing the original components. Originally all the tracks where recorded in real time with no overdubs following a score for each piece arranged in adavnce. For this rerecording, having lost many of these notations, I diagramed each arrangement and have replicated the pieces as closely as possible. This reconstruction, Repostfabricated, can be viewed as how Postfabricated was intended to sound and how I, while composing it, heard it in 1998. However due to my technical restrictions at the time, the particular quality of sound was not reproduced.


CD2 PostPostfabricated: 
The artists on this CD were given sound source files to create new works. Inspiration for this project comes from a review by Roel Meelkop of Postfabricated in Vital Weekly suggesting that it would be perfect for sampling and remixing. Thus PostPostfabricated was born 5 years later. Thank you to my friends who have reworked my sounds for this project.

Schneider TM is a multidimensional music project by Dirk Dresselhaus that oscillates extensively between experimental electronic avant-pop and rather abstract and improvisational material, occasionally bringing these and other seemingly opposing elements together.

Since the mid 90s he released albums on labels like City Slang / Mute, Bureau B, Editions Mego or Karlrecords under this moniker, including singles like ‘Reality Check’, ‘Frogtoise’ or a cover version of a song by The Smiths called ‘The Light 3000’, a collaboration with Kptmichigan that was hugely acclaimed by the alternative media (like John Peel, The Wire etc.) and have made him been credited as one of the main innovators of a music genre called Indietronica.

Solo or as group, Schneider TM has performed a couple of hundreds live concerts around the globe including renowned international festivals like CTM (Berlin), Sonar (Barcelona, Rome, Tokyo), Mutek (Montreal, Mexico City), Roskilde-Festival (DK), Hultsfred Festival (Hultsfred), Frieze Art Fair (London), Phonem Festival (Istanbul), Les Siestes Électroniques (Toulouse), Melt Festival (Gräfenhainichen), Midi Festival (Hyéres), Motomix Festival (Sao Paolo), Todaysart Festival (Den Haag), Dark Mofo (Hobart) and others.

Dirk Dresselhaus’ rather unusual musical methods like e.g. the combination of electroacoustic guitars with modular electronics have practically led him to explore unknown territory on each new release, solo or in diverse short- and long-term collaborations and projects with the likes of Ilpo Väisänen (die Angel, ex-Pan sonic), Zappi W Diermaier (Faust), Reinhold Friedl (zeitkratzer), Oren Ambarchi, Hildur Guðnadóttir, BJ Nilsen, Lucio Capece, Elena Poulou (ex-The Fall), Damo Suzuki (ex-Can), John Duncan (LAFMS), Conrad Schnitzler, Jochen Arbeit & Andrew Unruh (Einstürzende Neubauten) as well as to numerous works in the field of film music, radio plays, (performance-) theater, contemporary dance and general studio production.
